Crafted from off-cuts of sailcloth used in Australia II’s spinnakers, the original Boxing Kangaroo flag was created during the 1983 campaign as Australia chased the most prestigious trophy in sailing.

Then the seemingly impossible happened.

After 132 years of American dominance, Australia II fought back to win the America’s Cup, and the handmade flag flying alongside the campaign became part of sporting folklore.

More than forty years later, it remains one of the most globally recognisable symbols in Australian sport.
