Cocoloco marijuana walk

On this walking tour you will learn how Barcelona´s economy was reliant on the cultivation of cannabis from the times of the Roman Empire. You will see where it was grown and sold. THen you will learn how later in the medieval period h**p was essential to construction, the naval fleets which conquered the mediterranean and see the market places where prices were decided for bales and wagons of ma*****na fibre.
We then move closer to the present day and learn how cannabis was a medicinal drug which suddenly following the lead of the USA in its prohibition fever of alcohol and all fun things how cannabis consumption went underground.
Most recently Barcelona became famous for a soft attitude to the drug. Licensed cannabis clubs sprouted up everywhere along with the most seed shops outside of Amsterdam in Europe. The dizzy heydays of the beginning of the 21st century are gone now. From a peak of 500 clubs there are now only approximately a hundred clubs left where members may buy and consume ma*****na, hashish and derivities legally. To do so they must sign an agreement declaring their level of consumption, attesting that they are doing their best to reduce that consumption and sincerely supporting research into medical cannabis and a return to valuing the crop for its historical benefits. Our tour is not just historical or intellectual. Guests will gain entrance to Barcelona´s Ma*****na & Hash museum as well as get a a map of the current cannabis cafés, each of which offers a unique vibe and experience to its members. But obeying the current legislation we must remember that one can only become a member of a café on recommendation from another member and by presenting full identification. This tour does not promote the use of illegal or controlled drugs, but this tour supports research into the benefits of cannabis and its derivitates as a health product and industrial product.
