Behold- The Pilates Magic Square!

Each year at Pilates at The Pillow®, I present Sean Gallagher with a gift to thank him for opening up his property and original apparatus collection (and so much more ) to the conference attendees…

…and this year I was lucky enough to get a Magic Square in time to present it as a gift! I was absolutely thrilled that it all worked out!

Thank you Sean, for all that you do to make pilates history so tangible and proximal to those to seek to experience it. My gift to you is a fraction of what you do for us and for Joe’s work.

So… where is this Magic Square from?! Well, it’s truly a great day when the pilates community comes together on an archival endeavor!

A little while ago my friend Rebekah Le Magny told me she asked Arregon Pilates Equipment to make a Magic Square similar to Joe’s original designs. After much “patience and persistence” they have completed the project and the Magic Square is now ready!

Thank you Rebekah for coming up with the idea to revive this piece of equipment, and thank you to Arregon for beautiful craftsmanship and for making this rendition possible.

Currently, the original Magic Square is lost to time… hopefully some day we find one! In the meantime, the research of archival photos and dedication that went into creating this piece is very much appreciated. I can’t wait to share more impressions, thoughts, and videos using it!
