Our regular Tuesday morning club session saw 15 players brave the heat & humidity to put on a great display of walking football. See the video clip to follow which showcased some fantastic passing moves in the 5th quarter.

We welcomed back Umberto that well known silky, left footed Italian after a long absence and Seth (Colin’s lad) who had stepped up from the junior ranks. He has great future this lad as witnessed by his two well taken goals in the video clip.

Goals were hard to come by in the first four quarters of the session due to some brilliant goalkeeping from both Spreadsheet & Sniper who repeatedly made some outstanding saves & frustrated their opponents with their agility.

At the start of that 5th quarter it was 3-2 to Whites but they ran away with it in the final 10 minutes as the Blues tired and Whites capitalised with slick passing and accuracy in front of goal.

Man of the match was JC who once again held the ball well, brought others into play and was on target with a hatrick.

As usual, we retired to Amanda’s bar after to enjoy some refreshments and plan for the new season and a Xmas tournament coming up in Sevilla in December.

La sesión de entrenamiento del sábado por la mañana volvió a contar con una magnífica asistencia. Gary formó dos equipos fuertes y muy igualados, y realmente hacía falta, con temperaturas que rondaban los 35 °C. La sesión consistió en siete partidos de 10 minutos, con los siempre necesarios descansos para hidratarse entre ellos.

Ambos equipos jugaron un fútbol excelente, con mucho movimiento, pases precisos y una gran posesión del balón. Dougie y Nick estuvieron sobresalientes bajo los palos. Nick, esperemos que no estés alcanzando tu mejor nivel demasiado pronto... otra actuación fantástica. Dougie también demostró toda su experiencia con una magnífica actuación en la portería. Enhorabuena a todos; fue una sesión de gran calidad y muy entretenida.

Los entrenamientos se reanudan la próxima semana con nuestra sesión del martes por la mañana, que comenzará a las 10:30.

Tras el entrenamiento, tuvimos el placer de recibir a los patrocinadores de nuestro club, Samaritans Spain, quienes nos ofrecieron una actualización sobre el increíble apoyo que siguen prestando a nuestra comunidad. Nos sentimos enormemente orgullosos de nuestra colaboración con Samaritans Spain y luciremos su camiseta con orgullo durante toda la próxima temporada.

Saturday morning's training session was once again very well attended. Gary selected two strong, evenly matched teams, and they certainly needed to be with temperatures hovering around 35°C. The session consisted of seven 10-minute games, with much-needed water breaks in between.
Both teams played some excellent football, with great movement, sharp passing ,maintaining possession. Dougie and Nick were both outstanding between the posts. Nick, let's hope you're not peaking too early 😉 seriously another excellent performance, Dougie also rolled back the years with a fantastic display in goal. Well played to everyone; it was a thoroughly enjoyable and high-quality session.

Training resumes next week with our Tuesday morning session, kicking off at 10:30.

Following training, we were delighted to welcome our club sponsors, Samaritans Spain, who gave us an update on the incredible support they continue to provide within our community. We are extremely proud of our association with Samaritans Spain and will wear their shirts with pride throughout the coming season.

Another excellent training session on Wednesday evening.

The session was geared towards preparing for the forthcoming Over 50s season, but it was Charles from the Over 60s who stole the headlines with a superbly taken goal – controlling the ball, turning his defender and finishing with a brilliant volley.

Chris “Lenny” Lennon was outstanding in midfield, dictating the play and spraying the ball around with confidence, while trialist JuanFran continued to impress in goal with only his second session with the club.

It was also fantastic to welcome Robert Jurewicz back full of energy after a long absence

Well done to everyone who took part. The evening was rounded off perfectly with the traditional post-training get-together in Amanda’s, where the world’s problems were, as always, thoroughly debated and solved!

A special mention goes to Coops, who popped in before heading off to France for a month to buy everyone a belated birthday drink. A lovely gesture and much appreciated by everyone. Thanks, Mark – have a great time in France , look forward to seeing you back soon.

We’ll be back at it again on Saturday morning with a 10.30am kick-off. There’s no rest for the boys of AC Benahavís! ⚽💚

La sesión de entrenamiento del martes por la mañana volvió a contar con una excelente asistencia. Gary formó dos equipos muy equilibrados para disputar otro emocionante encuentro entre los Blancos y los Azules.

Nick volvió a estar sensacional bajo los palos, realizando una serie de magníficas paradas. Marc Morris, por su parte, estuvo simplemente letal de cara a portería. Sin embargo, cuando cambió de posición y se puso los guantes de Fitzy, aunque la imagen era perfecta, hay que decir que estaba bastante lejos de parecerse al gran Sepp Maier (una broma privada).

Hubo muchas actuaciones destacadas durante la mañana, pero fue especialmente agradable ver a Rossi de vuelta en el campo tras su ausencia.

Con la nueva temporada a la vuelta de la esquina, el equipo se muestra en plena forma, competitivo y perfectamente preparado para los retos que están por venir.

Tuesday morning's training session was once again well attended, with Gary selecting two evenly matched teams for another competitive encounter between the Whites and the Blues.

Nick was once again in outstanding form between the posts, pulling off a string of fine saves. Marc Morris was simply lethal in front of goal, however, when he swapped roles and donned Fitzy's gloves, despite looking every bit the part, it's fair to say he was hardly the great Sepp Maier ( private joke )

There were plenty of strong performances this morning , but it was especially good to see Rossi back in action after his absence.

With the new season fast approaching, the squad is looking fit, competitive and in excellent shape for the challenges ahead.

AC Benahavís Walking Football Club is looking to recruit two goalkeepers to strengthen our Over 50s and Over 60s squads for the new season.

We’re much more than just a football club. We are a friendly and welcoming group of ex-pats from across Europe who share a love of football, friendship and good company. Our club has enjoyed great success on the pitch over the years, but just as importantly, we pride ourselves on our fantastic social atmosphere off it.

Whether you’ve played recently or your gloves have been hanging up for a while, we’d love to meet you.

Antes de la sesión de entrenamiento del sábado, el AC Benahavís Walking Football Club celebró su Asamblea General Anual. El presidente, Chris Warren, dio la bienvenida a los nuevos miembros del comité, agradeció a quienes dejan sus cargos por su trabajo y dedicación, y destacó la excelente situación en la que se encuentra el club de cara a otro año lleno de ilusión.

A continuación, vivimos un momento muy especial cuando Popeye hizo entrega a Amanda de otros 250 €, recaudados a través de su p***a del Mundial, para ayudar a su familia en estos momentos tan difíciles. Nuestros pensamientos y mejores deseos siguen estando con Amanda y toda su familia.

Después llegó el momento de saltar al terreno de juego, donde los Blues y los Whites volvieron a protagonizar un partido muy igualado y competitivo. A pesar del calor del mediodía, ambos equipos lucharon durante casi 90 minutos, demostrando un compromiso, una entrega y una condición física excepcionales.

Worthers se ganó el reconocimiento no oficial como Jugador del Partido gracias a una magnífica actuación defensiva y a una excelente salida de balón desde la zaga. Dicho esto, Mark Morris fue la gran referencia de los Whites, mostrando una definición impecable y anotando varios goles de gran calidad.

Tras tanto esfuerzo, las merecidas cervezas en el Bar O'Hana pusieron el broche perfecto a otra magnífica jornada.
