Annual event of the EX-Pats/Bar Pueblo Golf Society V The Scots

Two games took place on Friday 16th September at Calanova & then on Sunday 18th at Mijas Olivos

The usual banter/social activities took place and amazingly both games was attended by all despite some very sore heads

The competitive competition over 2 days produced some great matches & with some excellent golf and mixed with the fun this created another fantastic event for all. The Scots brought over 16 nutters (Golfers) and the bar matched them with 16 local competing tryers (Golfers).

A texas scramble game took place on the Friday at Calanova with the Pueblo being victorious as they came in winning 6-2,

On the Sunday a singles match play was the format also with a stableford comp being held & a competitive draw was the result therefore the overall winners was the Pueblo Bar Society winning 13.5 to 9.5. An individual stableford comp was also being competed for.

Day 1, the 4 nearest the pins, winners was won by:John Hey, Miller & Mark Henshaw won 2 Day 2, the 5 nearest the pins was won by:Foz, Davis Aitcheson, Sandy, Jason & Mark Rawlinson

Best individual stableford score with handicaps 1 to 19: Winner Jim Greene with 39 points 2nd Tommy Damery with 33 (winning on a count back)**3rd Mick Gibney also with 33 points** the party atmosphere caused a few errors so apologies needs to be given to big John Thorpe as apparently he should have been 2nd with 36 points, oops!

Handicaps 20 plus: Winner was Big Stu with 42 points 2nd was Paul Groves with 38 points 3rd was Andy Smythe with 36 points

A big thank you to all the Scots for travelling over & making the event yet another massive success with great fun being had & we all cant wait to welcome you back ASAP & for next years annual competition

Benalmadena Bar Pueblo Society's 6th major event was held on 27th of August & was sponsored by Adam Johnson & Les Worboys then the usual presentation/party began with booze & tasty burgers.
Extra prizes & snacks during the game were donated by our sponsors and gratefully received by all players on another scorching hot day.
The Calanova course was in good condition other than the 18th due to it being resigned and taking forever.
A good turnout was achieved & some excellent scores came in

Richard Holroyd won 2 with Dave Mc & regular winner Jim (Chicago) Greene taking the other

Winner of the nearest the pin in 2 on a par 4 was Jim (Chicago) Greene.

3 extra sponsor prizes took place, nearest the pin in 3 on hole 1 which was won by Adam Johnston. combines score on hole 1.2.3 & 4 won by Sean Hurley & best score on hole 10 with one club won by Peter Grier
Cat B runner up Chris Jones with 31 points, winner was Trevor Etienne with 35 points
Cat A runner up was Adam Johnston with 35 points, winner after a count back was Mark Rawlinson

After 5th major presentation

Pueblo Bar Society 4th major event held on July 2nd

Played at Calanova Golf & sponsored by Mark Henshaw

A great day was held & the course was in a fab condition other than the 18th as a major restructure of the hole is underway.

Very good scores came in with nearest the pins being won by Mick Gibney, Bill Willis, John Hicks & new member Brynley Shinnick with Julkka being pipped on all 4 holes
Winner in 2 shots on the short par 4 was Mark Rawlinson

Mark Henshaw invented a new format for the sponsors prizes, basically a card was drawn by each player with its identity unknown then each player was entered into a total best score on Par 3's 4's & 5's with total points of each category being added up & winners declared on the night.
3's was won by Bill Willis with 12 points
4's was won by Adam Johnston with 18 points
& 5's was won by Paul Groves with 11 points

The stableford overall winner in Category A was Jukka playing off 11 with a fabulous score of 42 points shooting a gross score of 76. The runner up was Mark Rawlinson scoring 38 points.
Cat B winner was Gary Gardner with 37 points & runner up was Brynley Shinnick with 34 points.

Calanova Pueblo Bar Society 3rd major event held on 28th of May

Good scores came in by a few but several struggled at the event with putting proving difficult as pin positions where tough. The course in general played very well although the tee boxes need some TLC.
Match nibbles and extra prizes were provided by the sponsors with the presentation and lovely food being enjoyed back at the Pueblo Bar.

The category A group was won by Mick Gibney scoring 38 points & Pete Grier came in with 35 points to take 2nd place.
Arthur Conway won the Category B group with 35 points & Graham Hall came 2nd with 34 points.
Nearest the pins were Jim Green on the 6th. Trevor Etienne on the 8th with Andy Smyth also winning 2 on the 12th and nearly a hole in one on the 17th.

Good day was had by all.

Pueblo Bar Golf Society held another great day at Calanova Golf, the course was in fabulous condition & the weather was perfect so no excuses could be had for any of the competing players in this years 2nd major.
The day was sponsored by myself & Dave Mc & high scores came in with only 5 players recording less than 30 points
Tasty food was cooked & supplied by Mick then the presentation began.

Four nearest the pins were won with Mark Rawlinson winning the first two then John Kicks & Mick Gibney won the other two
Nearest the pin on a par 4 in 2 shots was won by Christer & he also won the nearest the pin in 3 on the stroke index 1 par 4.
Best individual gross of the none winners was won by Mark Henshaw shooting 2 under

The Category B runner up was Chris Jones shooting 36 points & the winner was Dave Mc with a score of 39 points
The Category A runner up after a count back was Mick Gibney shooting 40 points (including an eagle) with the winner being Richard Holroyd
