LEAGUE 2026 CONCLUDED!

With this past weekends matches between Biccbarcelona and Madrid CC, the 2 ECCL leagues have now finished.

Sporting Alfaz C.C complete the full sweep in both league as they maintain their champion status in the T20 league and claim the 40 Over title from last years winners, Barcelona International.

Madrid claimed 2 wins in the T20 games vs BICC this weekend as they flew to 2nd place.

However, due to some injuries sustained in those T20 games on Saturday, BICC were unable to field a full side for the 40 over game on the Sunday. With the help from some LMTCC players, they fulfilled the fixture but evidentally had to "forfeit" the league game and were deducted 20 points.

With this happening, they unfortunately dropped to last place and LMTCC pushed up to 3rd place, dispite not winning a game.

LMTCC claim just 1 win in the T20s, so finished up bottom of the table.

A tough year all round, with fixtures being cancelled and ground availability but 2027 will bounce back!!

MATCH REPORT INCOMING!

A bright and blue skied morning as LMTCC make their drive up to Albir to face Sporting Alfaz C.C in their last league game of the season.

K. Wood lost the toss once again and was asked to bat first.

Before the start of play, all the players and umpires held a minute silence and paid their respects to the recent passing of Ron Graham, who was sadly taken away from us earlier in the week.

Into the action, K. Wood and P. Harvey opened the batting.

Distasterous start for LMTCC as P. Harvey called a single in the second over but misjudged the trajectory of the ball, as some good fielding saw him run out.

The next over also saw K. Wood depart when he edged a cut shot straight to the Alfas Keeper. 1/2 off 2 overs with both openers back in the hut.

C. Wood and T. Knowles were the new batters in and took an attacking approach to the alfas bowlers. Putting on a 50 partnership in the following 6 overs. Which included an over where T. Knowles dispatched 3 6´s.

The counter-attack came to an end when T. Knowles was then bowled and the score now at 60/3 off 12 overs.

P. Singh on debut came in at 5 to join C. Wood but the lack of communication between the 2 batters saw some early signs of struggle running between the wicket. This eventually saw a run out happen when P. Singh called C. Wood through for a 2nd run which saw him fall margainly short when the bails were taken off at the bowlers end. 75/4 after 16 overs.

The next 6 overs saw the rest of the team fall in very quick succession. P. Singh was out caught not longer after C. Wood´s dismissal, then A. Kumar chipped a ball to an Alfas fielder too, followed by R. Singh getting bowled for a Golden Duck bringing the team to 82/8 as drinks were taken in the 20th over.

M. Wilson-Pestell and R. Ali were the 2 batters in as they looked to try and scamper some runs to the board but even the Great Inpenetrable Wall of M. Wilson-Pestell could not survive as he was clean bowled too.

S. Singh came in at 10 and hit an amazing 6 before he watched R. Ali eventually bring his long innings to an end when he was out bowled.

B. Couter came in at 11 but his stay would be short lived to when we was bowled for a 5 ball duck.

A very tough outing for the lads as they were bowled out for just 96 in under 23 overs. So early that the teas had not yet been preparred so a quick 10 minute turnaround to send everyone back out.

A losing battle but LMTCC went out with smiles on their faces and a positive attitude to make the most of the situation.

R. Ali took the honours of the first over and kept it tight until the last ball of the over which was hooked for 4.

T. Knowles was still in good spirits from his batting innings and took the second over..... only to be hit for 21 of his 1 and only over.

Quick change saw R. Singh come into bowl instead.

Short spells from everyone to ensure everyone gets a bowl and to try unsettle the Alfas batters but boundaries came very easily for the un-pressured batters. A wicket did come, in the form of M. Wilson-Pestell when a lofty ball got the better of the batter and could only find a soft edge that landed simply for K. Wood with the gloves.

P. Singh had an over and claimed the wicket off the other Alfas opener with his faster bowling with a misconnected drive that landed saftely into the hands of P. Harvey.

2 new batters in but the runs kept coming and the small target of 97 was reached by the 8.5 over mark.

Catches from K. Wood and P. Harvey who took more catches between them then runs scored.....

A mammoth win from Sporting Alfas by 8 wickets in a game that only lasted a total of 30 overs.

By this time, the teas were ready so both teams enjoyed some early drinks, afternoon sunshine and food before LMTCC made their early way home.

Dissapointing day in cricket terms but the lads at LMTCC fielded and bowled with smiles on their faces and had many laughs when they could. Spirits unmatched when losing games.

Alfas smash 20 points from the game as LMTCC pushed 2 points dispite the big loss.

Our league season comes to an end, but more cricket still to come.

This weekend, cricket returns to the La manga cricket and golf resort as Biccbarcelona take on Madrid CC in the El Classico of the cricketing world. Games to be played on both Saturday and Sunday of this week. Both days to start at 11.00. Be sure to pop by to see some cricket!

LMTCC will return in a couple of weeks time as they host a touring side from the UK, Ilfield CC, in a double header.

Terribly saddened to hear of the passing of Ron Graham. A beloved character in the cricketing world and helped push Cricket in Spain to where it is now.

LMTCC gives our deepest condolenses to his friends and family at this time.

It’s with very sad news we have lost a huge character and Alfas friend Ronald Graham known to many as Uncle Ron well respected Umpire around the Spanish leagues will be missed

SUPER SUNDAY SHOWDOWN!

After 2 T20 games the day before, both LMTCC and Biccbarcelona returned to the La Manga Cricket and Golf Resort for 40 over showdown.

A big change in team from the day before with T. Knowles, R. Singh, T. Singh, F. Jones (Debut) and G. Horne (Debut) coming into the squad.

A legit coin toss saw K. Wood WIN the toss and elect to bat once more.

Shake up in the batting order pushed T. Knowles up to 2 alongside K. Wood. Slow and steady was the game plan, to just bat the overs out and build a partnership. 7 overs passed with no real threat but only 22 on the board before patience grew short for the openers and tried attacking abit more. This led to T. Knowles edging the ball to 1st slip for the first wicket. K. Wood fell 2 overs later when he pushed the ball kindly to short cover. 33/2 off 10.

R. Nel and J. Kinsella were the new batters in but could not recreate their partnership from the month before as J. Kinsella chopped a shorter ball back onto his stumps.

P. Harvey went in at 5 and parked the bus, allowing R. Nel to do his thing and stop any more of a collaspe.

A partnership that took the team past the 50 mark and the 100 mark, lasting 17 overs for 77 runs before R. Nel fell for 43 after a direct hit run out, when attempting to take a quick single to square leg. 116/3 with 10 overs left.

The final 10 overs saw a new collaspe begin, T. Singh fell, followed by the hard worked P. Harvey, R. Ali added some valuable runs before he got out, then R. Singh, H. James and F. Jones followed soon after, leaving G. Horne not out for 1 at the very end with 2.5 overs to spare.

147 All out came from the innings.

Another tough batting session for LMTCC. The lads fell back to regroup during the lunch break to prepare themselves for the counterattack in the second innings.

T. Singh started the attack and caused some early issues for the BICC batters. Meanwhile, K. Wood looked to hold up the other end and early pressure caused a dap into the leg side expertly stopped by T. Knowles who then spun and landed a direct hit at the non-strikers end to claim the first wicket for LMTCC!

K. Wood went for some heavy blows so came off early bringing R. Ali into the attack.

T. Singh continued bowling well and claimed 2 wickets in his 4th over with a brilliant caught and bowled at his ankles, followed by a clean bowled the very next ball! He came back for his 5th over to take another wicket with a flying catch from J. Kinsella behind the stumps! A huge breakthrough from LMTCC with the score at 49/4 after 7 overs.

F. Jones and G. Horne came into the attack to try keep the pressure up. It didnt take long for F. Jones to get his name in the wickets collumn with another good catch from J. Kinsella behind the stumps and then his next over saw a catch from K. Wood at 5th Slip to bring the score now to 88/6.

G. Horne was bowling well and cause some troubles with his pace but some bad balls were punished and forced a switch to try some new tactics.

M. Wilson-Pestell came into the attack to join F. Jones but now F. Jones was being attacked some more as the target was getting closer and closer.

M. Wilson-Pestell held his end up as the BICC refused to take on his bowling and this brought the attack from T. Singh in once again.

Some loose balls were hit and eventually the target of 148 was reached by the BICC batters. Saurabh with an unbeaten 59 made sure the team made it accross the finish line.

Catches from J. Kinsella (2), K. Wood, T. Singh and an excellent run out from T. Knowles were in the end, shadowed, by the difficult, but costly, dropped catches.

A defeat by 4 wickets, but the LMTCC players fought hard throughout the innings. Always giving themselves chances to get ahead of the game and give the team from Catalunya a good game.

19 points for BICC whilst LMTCC take 5 points from the game.

A fantastic weekend of cricket against a very friendly and competitive side, lots of laughs and drinks shared over the 2 days and we look forward to playing more games against them in the future!

The league is coming to an end, LMTCC yet to get a win in the 40 over format but have one more chance, as next Sunday 30th August, we travel, one more time, up north to Alfas as we face the hosts in what should be another great game of cricket.

DING DING Round 2 Incoming.

Biccbarcelona took the glory from game 1 with a 7 wicket victory.

Game 2 saw a valid coin toss and back to LMTCC fashion as K. Wood lost the toss and was asked to bat first again.

H. James came into the team but with R. Nel and R. Ali having to leave, meaning LMTCC were to play this game with 10 for the batting.

K. Wood and J. Kinsella led the attack again with J. Kinsella given the license to slog to hearts content as he had to leave shortly.

The license did not pay off as 5 swings failed to connect and the 6th ball off the over knocking the stumps over. Wicket Maiden to start the innings.

P. Harvey was promoted to 3 but his stay would be short lived when he was clean bowled in the 3rd over. 0/2 after 3 overs.

G. Singh came into bat at 4 with runs finally coming off the bat. Powerplay finishing with 24/2 on the board. A flurry of boundaries for K. Wood before he was clean bowled.

R. Maini came into bat at 5 but could only add 7 runs before he was caught out to bring in A. Kumar for another crack at his debut day.

A. Kumar and G. Singh put on a solid partnership bringing the team past the 100 mark and a nice 70 partnership before G. Singh fell just 6 runs short of his 50. S. Singh came in with a few overs left but was out LBW a couple of overs later bringing in H. James.

A. Kumar was freeing his arms and hitting some regular boundaries and H. James even smashed himself a 4 too as the 20th over came to an end with the score at a more respectable 152/6. A. Kumar with a nice 41* on his debut day.

More of a target to defend than Game 1, but the biggest problem LMTCC had now, was that with the absense of J. Kinsella, they were then left with just 9 players on the field.

This prooved to be the deciding factor as the ball was easily hit into gaps for 2´s.

Extras were kept down to a minimum and make sure to force the BICC batters to do all the work.

S. Singh opened the bowling and claimed his first LMTCC wicket with a catch from G. Singh.

H. James came onto bowl and claimed a wicket for himself too with another catch from G. Singh.

Dispite the resilient bowling effort, 7 fielders could not withhold and defend the runs as BICC reached the target inside the 16th over with 8 wickets to spare.

A better batting and bowling performances, but the lack of fielders prooved the difference 15 2´s and 2 3´s were run as 2 BICC batters both finished on 54*.

Double Defeat in the T20 games this weekend meaning LMTCC finish the T20 league with 1 win and 5 defeats. More than likely to finish bottom of the table depending on the results in a couple of weeks time between Madrid CC and BICC.

Saturday comes to an End but LMTCC and BICC line up again on the Sunday for the 40 over clash!!

MATCH REPORTS INCOMING!

Another long break through the summer but LMTCC returned back to the La Manga Cricket and Golf Resort last weekend for a double header vs Barcelona International CC.

A cooler start this weekend, as Saturday saw the 2 teams face off in 2 T20 games.

Biccbarcelona arrived to the ground a little late, therefore allowing K. Wood to win the toss by Default and choosing to bat first.

Debuts for A. Kumar and S. Singh.

K. Wood and J. Kinsella started the attack, and saw K. Wood getting off to a good start. Meanwhile J. Kinsella was caught early on, and followed by R. Nel not too long after.

The innings was being greatly helped with extras as the score reached 72/2 off 10 overs before the collaspe came down.

K. Wood was caught behind in the 11th over and was quickly followed by the rest of the team as the next highest score was 6.

A final stand between M. Wilson-Pestell and N. Wood made sure that LMTCC batted the full 20 overs but for a short score of just 121/9.

A good bowling and fielding performance needed. Which was what happened with only 4 runs coming from the first over from P. Harvey, and then a wicket coming from the 2nd over from R. Maini with a catch from K. Wood.

R. Maini claimed another wicket in his 2nd over with a hit towards Mid-off where P. Harvey took a great catch too! 20/2 off 4 overs. R. Ali and K. Wood came into bowl and also kept the bowling really tight as K. Wood claimed a wicket for himself with a lofted shot to Long on where G. Singh took a nice catch.

R. Nel and G. Singh came into bowl as the score came to 78/3 off 14 overs.

Unfortunately, the BICC batters took a liking to their bowling as the remaining 44 runs came from their next 4 overs. U. Raza for BICC finishing just 1 run short of his 50 as they take round 1.

A tough game with the bat but fought hard with the ball for the first 3/4 of the 2nd innings but there just was not enough runs to defend.
