If mountain biking and gravel riding rank as your greatest loves, then welcome to Trails of the Alhambra!

Here you can find resources for riding off-road in southern Spain. Write your own "tale of the Alhambra" where dirt and soaring elevations combine to create the suffering necessary to craft a narrative spiked by ethereal views, plunging descents, and solitary corridors that lace the former Alhambra kingdom.

New breakfast tradition here at Trails of the Alhambra also becomes a metaphor for life: if you don’t like the way things are, change your perspective.🔥

Last weekend in Morocco 🇲🇦 was for route reconnaissance for a future bike tour in the north (spring 2026). Some beach time should also be on the sched, don’t you think?

If you ever need to get a gift for yourself, get a professional bike fit. This was way overdue for me since the list of grievances from my joints was growing and it was time to finally address it. Plus wouldn’t you agree that riding with pain drains all the joy out of cycling? It did for me.
Grateful to and for fitting me in on Labor Day before I had to catch a flight back to Spain!
Don’t be like me and keep reinforcing injury, get a fit done before riding your bike becomes a real pain!

First ride for the Outback up the historic ice route used for bringing ice down from the Sierras by donkey once upon a time. It’s been a while since I’ve done this ride, so it was really nice of Granada to put up a finish line and timing clock for when I came through.
On second thought, I think it was actually for her, #83, who was the first over the lime in this morning ‘s race up El Purche.

In 2024 we were lunch rookies at , this time we came prepared with flip-flops, towels, swimsuits, and of course an appetite.
Hich got the cod with fresh tomato sauce, I got the grilled sea bass. For dessert, clearly you’ll have to come see for yourself (they are all house made!)

It’s like winter in New England out there – if you don’t optimize your ride time, you’re not going out that day on account of the weather!

By the end of cherry season (mid July), between the two of us we can eat around 10 of these boxes, which hold 2 kg (4.4 lbs) each. They come from Güéjar Sierra, a mountain town about 8 miles away.
This is number 2 so far!

It’s easy to take Granada for granted, but it’s also not that hard to be grateful!
Thanks Granada!

¡Que linda mi ciudad! Some of the loveliest views in Granada are in plain sight. In fact, if you’re not paying attention (guilty), you might miss them.
Luckily was there to capture the beauty yesterday evening on the first day of the annual wine festival to celebrate wines from Granada.
