We started the crowdfunding campaign with the aim of moving forward with our projects. Our main purpose in Urban Bicycles and Escapada Cycling has been to put as many bikes on the streets as possible, thus promoting their use and creating a great local social impact, while making a living out of it. We believe that, yes!, with more bikes on the street, more people question using other more sustainable means of transport or travel. We would like to diversify the cultural offer for our visitors, with sustainable options and. Our Málaga province has a lot to offer, not just the city center, and the best way to get to know it is by bike.

We would like to continue promoting the cycling cause and also the enjoyment it brings. These days of quarantine have served us to realize the direction we want to take to continue promoting the values ​​of the bike, such as sustainability, honesty, minimalism and living a little more slowly to realize that to enjoy, you do not need so much. We will work towards contributing more to our community, visitors and locals. During these days, we have created new guide services, with a more flexible offer and more fair prices, making cycling holidays more accessible to everyone.

As soon as we return to the activity we will start with a free monthly bike ride where every cyclist will be welcomed to join, we will approach visitors with local cyclists, and some surprises that we keep ;) something that especially excites us. Definitely, we will put our efforts in making this situation an opportunity for more people to see the values cycling promotes!

Thank you all for the support you have given us, it has been incredible! You have been an important part of our decision. We are going to keep giving everything we have and keep fighting for the values ​​we believe in! In one way or another, we will resist staying for a long time!

Empezamos la campaña de crowdfunding con el objetivo de seguir adelante con nuestros proyectos. Nuestro mayor propósito en Urban Bicycles y Escapada Cycling ha sido poner tantas bicis en las calles como pudiéramos, fomentando así su uso, creando un gran impacto social local y que además nos permitiera vivir de ello. Creemos que sí, con más bicis en la calle, más gente se cuestiona usar otros medios de transporte o viaje más sostenibles. Queremos diversificar la oferta cultural para nuestros visitantes con opciones sostenibles y la provincia de Málaga, no solo el centro, tiene mucho que ofrecer, y la mejor forma de conocerla es en bici.

Queremos seguir promoviendo la causa ciclista y también el disfrute que aporta. Estos días de cuarentena nos han servido para darnos cuenta de la dirección que queremos tomar para seguir promoviendo los valores de la bici, como son la sostenibilidad, la honestidad, el minimalismo, el vivir un poco más despacio para darnos cuenta de que para disfrutar no se necesita tanto. Trabajaremos con el propósito de aportar más a nuestra comunidad, visitantes y locales. Durante estos días hemos creado nuevos servicios de guía, con una oferta más flexible y con unos precios más ajustados haciendo de las vacaciones ciclistas algo más accesible para todos.

Tan pronto volvamos a la actividad empezaremos con una salida en bici mensual libre donde todo ciclista esté bienvenido, acercaremos a visitantes con ciclistas locales, con alguna sorpresa que nos reservamos ;) algo que especialmente nos ilusiona. Y en definitiva, ¡pondremos nuestro empeño en hacer de esta situación una oportunidad para que más gente vea los valores que promueve la bici!

Gracias a todos por el apoyo que nos habéis dado, ¡ha sido increíble! Habéis sido una parte importante en nuestra decisión. Tenemos que seguir dando todo lo que tenemos y seguir luchando por los valores en que creemos. De una forma u otra, ¡resistiremos para quedarnos por mucho tiempo!

20 days after the campaign, we would like to thank all our supporters by buying our merchandise! Thank you from the bottom of our heart to all who have been actively promoting the campaign! Spain is still in a state of alarm, that means that the restrictions are still strong, the good news is that Malaga will enter in “phase 1” next week, where we can enjoy one more degree of freedom, we will be able to see family and friends, and small businesses can reopen their doors.

As every small local business, a few weeks ago, we were forced to close due to the terrible pandemic situation we are facing nowadays. For a small business like ours, this is a big blow. The road seems to narrow further with each turn we take and driving us to a tortuous descent. Our resources, just as much as our strength, are fading away.

Everything that’s happening right now is a tragedy; but life sometimes gets like this. We know that right now there are more noble causes in need than ours. We do not want to be selfish, but it’s hard not to worry about your own future, when you have fought so hard to reach the point you were a few weeks ago. It made us really think about whether we should do this crowdfunding. The following questions came to mind:
- Is it worth it to keep fighting for cycling at times like these?
YES, definitely. Now more than ever.
- Is there another way we could do this?
The direction we went in allowed us to get many bikes on the streets and promote its use. It’s the best way to drive a local change and make a living out of it.
- Are we doing something good for the environment?
We believe we do. With more bikes on the streets, more people start considering the possibility of more sustainable means of transportation and ways to travel that improve the city's quality of life.We would like to diversify the tourist offer for our visitors, providing sustainable choices and avoiding the city centre’s gentrification. Málaga province has a lot to offer, and the best way to get to know it is by bike.

We are proud of everything we have done until now, but we don’t want it to end here. We would like to redress the situation, get back on the right track, and most of all keep supporting cycling and the bike community. That’s why we would like to ask for your support, to give us a little push to continue our journey in these uncertain times, to keep working on our mission and share it with you

We lost count of the days we have been at home; something that seems already normal. We miss being able to go out freely with our bikes, but most of all, be able to continue serving all of those who come to our premises to pick one of our bikes and enter in that dialogue, that exchange about the cycling culture in Malaga, and how different it is where they come from. That exchange with people who believe, as we do, that the bike gives a lot in exchange for little.

All these weeks have passed quickly despite this. We have been working on how to face and overcome a situation of distress. We want to continue what we were doing and, above all, keep supporting cycling in our community.

For this reason, we are launching a crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo from next Monday 27th of April. But we don’t want a simple donation, we would like to create a situation where you, as we do, benefit from it. That’s why we will be offering the Escapada products at a reduced price, aiming to generate funds to help us while regaining normal functioning. We know at this time you may not need anything to buy, but if you think we bring some value to our city, to our community, please share! That would be of great help and would raise our chances to keep going with the project!

Hemos perdido la cuenta de los días que llevamos en casa; algo que ya nos parece hasta normal. Echamos en falta poder salir libremente con nuestra bici, pero sobretodo echamos en falta poder seguir atendiendo a todos los que vienen a nuestro local a alquilar una bicicleta, y entrar en ese diálogo, ese intercambio de información sobre la cultura ciclista en Málaga, y lo diferente que es del lugar de donde vienen. Ese intercambio con gente que cree al igual que nosotros, que la bici da mucho a cambio de muy poco.

A pesar de ello, estas semanas han pasado muy rápido, porque hemos estado trabajando en cómo afrontar y superar esta situación de desconcierto. Queremos seguir con lo que veníamos haciendo y seguir apoyando ante todo la causa ciclista.

Por éste motivo, vamos a lanzar una campaña de crowdfunding en Indiegogo a partir del próximo lunes 27 de abril. Pero no queremos una simple donación, queremos crear una situación en la que tú, como nosotros, te beneficies. Por eso, ofreceremos nuestros artículos de Escapada a precios reducidos, con el fin de generar fondos que nos ayuden mientras recuperamos la actividad.
