Euroformula Open

As we head into the summer break, only two drivers have managed to break the 200 point mark, as points leader Rui-heng Yeh is joined by Everett Stack as the only drivers above said mark.

With three rounds left, everything is still up for grabs, so could we see a late title charge from the American or will the Chinese Taipei driver be able to take his first title in single-seaters?

Everett Stack took his second win of the season at the Circuit Paul Ricard in another warm afternoon in Southern France. The American driver of Motopark showed great assertiveness throughout the race. “It was very warm”, he commented, “and I knew I had to take care of the car, the tyres an my own energy. I chose the right moment to attack and from then on, I tried to master the events”.  Stack strengthens his second position in the standings, 60 points ahead of Rui-heng Yeh, who today could not finish better than tenth.

Drivex’s Gino Trappa finished second, after passing Jan Koller (Motopark) in the final laps. The young Czech brought home his maiden EFO podium finish, after leading the race in the first five laps, making a perfect use of the pole on the inverted grid. Alessandro Famularo, who was sitting next to him, got tangled with Wiktor Dobrzanski and Filippo Fioravanti, with the first two retiring, while Alceu Feldmann got a 5-second penalty for jump start and Aaron Ferrazzano had to retire with a broken gearbox.

All this prompted the safety car out for three laps, and two laps after the restart, Stack passed Koller. Trappa, who was sixth in lap one, put an effective charge, overtaking Carrasquedo, Yeh, Feldmann and Koller in succession to finish second. De la Torre, Herrera and Feldmann completed the top six.

Filippo Fiorentino has become the seventh different race winner in the 2026 Euroformula Open, and giving Spanish squad Drivex its first EFO win since Ferdinand Habsburg won in Barcelona. The young Brazilian-Italian driver, who shone in free practice before a frustrating qualifying, put a dominant show from lights to flag, perfectly using the advantage of pole position in the reversed grid.

“I like this track,  where I have done well in the past”, he commented, “and today everything went smoothly. It’s never easy but I could control the races and the tyres.”

Wiktor Dobrzanski finished an excellent and happy second. The Pole of Motopark, sitting third on the grid, passed Trappa at the start and tried to keep pressure on the leader for the entire race. He reduced the gap from two to one second, but was never a threat for Fiorentino. In the initial laps, he effectively defended his position from the attacks of Javier Herrera (BVM Racing), who settled on third until the end.

Motopark’s Everett Stack, Rui-heng Yeh and Jesse Carrasquedo  finished in the positions from fourth to sixth having all passed Gino Trappa, who was sitting in the all-Drivex first row, had a poorer start passing fifth in first lap, and couldn’t resist the attacks of the two Motopark drivers in the second part of the race. The unlucky man of the day was Diego de la Torre, who was running fourth in the first part of the race before falling victim of contacts with the rivals charging from behind.   

Jesse Carrasquedo took his third win of the season in a Race 1 at Circuit Paul Ricard that he dominated from the qualifying session. After conquering his maiden pole, the Mexican of Motopark won the race with authority from lights to flag, in a more dominant way that the gaps suggest.

Completing an all-Motopark podium, championship leader Rui-heng Yeh and US racer Everett Stack completed the podium, finishing two seconds behind Carrasquedo but never being in a position to threaten him.

Carrasquedo was a happy man after the victory , and mimed smoking  cigar to express the excellent day:  “Things went exactly how I dreamt this morning after the pole. This time I had a perfect start, and also a perfect restart, and that allowed to control the race, the pace and tyre consumption. The Paul Ricard is a track I love and, as a Mexican, racing in this heat is not a problem.”

The 2027 Euroformula Open provisional calendar is finally out!! 📅

Today, GT Sport announced the provisional calendars for its three series: Euroformula Open, International GT Open and GT Cup Open Europe.

The number of rounds will remain the same from last year, with the welcome return of Silverstone, which last appeared in 2019.

What a performance from Jesse Carrasquedo!🇲🇽

The Mexican finally breaks through to take his first pole of the season, ahead of his fellow countryman Javier Herrera, making it an all-Mexican front row.

It was, as expected, a very hot day of free practice at the Circuit Paul Ricard for the opening of the fifth round of the Euroformula season. Warm temperatures characterized a day which saw the ‘new’ drivers shining, as 15 cars took the track, with the last-minute addition of a third car by Drivex. The Spanish squad is fielding, alongside Trappa and Fiorentino, a third car for Celo Hahn, already seen at the Hungaroring with BVM Racing.

The best lap time of the day was posted by Drivex’s Filippo Fiorentino, who stopped the clock in 1.55.826 in the second session. The Brazilian had already topped the rankings in session 1 (1.56.348). In the combined results, he beat his countryman Alceu Feldmann, in his second outing with BVM Racing, by 0s482. Third was Argentina’s Gino Trappa 5Drivex), 0s604 clear from the top.

Fourth and first of the EFO regulars was Javier Herrera (BVM, +0s619), ahead of teammate Alessandro Famularo (+0s648) and championship leader Rui-heng Yeh (Motopark, +0s787).

The second session was shortened by five minutes, following a red flag that was raised when Ferrazzano’s car stopped along the track in turn 6, while also to be noted is that Wiktor Dobrzanski (Motopark), suffering from flu, finished last.
