Why join BUKAN School of Krava-Maga?

First and foremost, Bukan School differentiate and distances itself from other Krav-Maga institutions by the meaning of its purpose.
It is not a "fighting system", neither some sort of "art of self-defense", nor a "defense system" at all. According to its own creator, it was developed as a martial art.
KRAV-MAGA represents the most efficient and complete way of protecting yourself in the face of danger and increases your chances of surviving dangerous situations wherever they may occur.

1. BUKAN School is the only Krav-Maga teaching center that maintains, preserves and protects the original structure, teachings, ideas and methodology as IMI Lichtenfeld, its creator, used and intended Krav Maga to be.

Eversince its inception in 1977, in the city of Rehovot, Israel, BUKAN remains true to IMI's principles and values and it is organized as a SCHOOL, not a Federation, Association or Confederation of any sort. Therefore, BUKAN treats its members as Students, Pupils of the craft and not merely as subjects, or even worse - just clients.

2. The biggest purpose of BUKAN's mission is to keep IMI's ideas and philosophy alive, to embody the essence of a traditional martial art in pushing its students to better themselves, to know and to evolve as humans within the rigurous training and a disciplined commitment.

We follow THE ORIGINAL WAY OF IMI and his beliefs:
- being a great admirer of Jigoro Kano, the creator Judo, he decided we would also train on the Tatami, only use white Judogis and have a coloured belt based structure. - - Krav Maga is taught in Hebrew, just as Judo is taught worldwide in Japanese or the Kung-Fu is in Chinese

3. BUKAN does not alter or adjust the techniques or movements propagated by IMI and does not evolve in other various forms or styles of "modern" Krav-Maga. The original way has proved its usefulness in the past and it was already a complete and perfect martial art that provided solutions to any form of attack or possible situation of danger in the street.
A true student of a martial art puts all his efforts in improving oneself and follows the teachings as they were created for their intended purposes.
All in all, we simply do not try to "adapt" the Krav-Maga to ourselves and our body, but the other way around.

4. BUKAN has an established methodology and its techniques are carefully structured on coloured belts levels. Each movement and technique from Krav-Maga requires a certain level of experience, time spent on training and preparation.
Not only we follow the traditional grading system from White Belt to the Black Belt, but also maintain IMI's guidelines in regards to a specific timeline be used for each particular belt level.

Our teaching philosophy emulates the layers of an onion, meaning that the Krav-Maga teachings are for us gradual, evolving and most importantly, complementary.

5. Krav-Maga is not just a physical activity, but just as important, one embedded with philosophy. Along with the practical part, IMI included in the Krav-Maga a broad and profound philosophy that without it, the physical side of it becomes useless.
The WAY is for us just as important as HOW and also the historical part is as intricate as the theoretical and practical parts are.

It is not completely necessary to be a magnificent physical specimen, an athlete in order to become an excellent Krav-Maga practitioner but the art presents a thorough mental and intelectual challenge to any human being willing to become a student of the School.

Bukan School of Krav-Maga is the largest and best teaching center for the israeli martial art of self-defense. It is the only one continuing the original way of Imi Lichtenfeld, its creator, and perpetuating the teachings that made the Krav Maga the most efficient martial art adapted to real life situations.
