We may not be coming home with our hands raised, but we’re coming home with our heads held high.
This sport doesn’t always reward those who deserve it most, but it always reveals who has the biggest heart. This weekend, both of our fighters proved they have plenty of it.
Mara, only 20 years old, made his debut in the best way possible. Five rounds of absolute war against a far more experienced opponent. He had great moments throughout the fight, landed heavy shots, and showed composure and confidence far beyond his experience. In the fifth and final round, his opponent’s experience made the difference. Two knees, two counts, and the fight slipped away on points. But when even the opposing team comes over to congratulate you on your performance, you know you’ve made a statement. This is not the end… it’s just the beginning of something special.
Najim also faced an incredibly tough opponent. A fantastic first round, landing devastating low kicks that left his opponent barely able to walk. The second round turned into an all-out war. During a clinch exchange, he absorbed several knees, and the referee was forced to stop the fight. That’s how unforgiving this sport can be.
We lost two fights.
But we gained experience, earned respect, and showed the true spirit, courage, and level of the Jai Su Team.
Congratulations to both opponents on their victories, and a huge thank you to the promotion for inviting us to compete at one of the biggest Muay Thai events in the UK. It was an honour to be part of such an incredible show.
