Limpiar los océanos de plástico. Si dejamos que el plástico siga circulando por los océanos será imposible frenar el impacto negativo sobre: los ecosistemas, la salud y la economía. Para resolver el problema es necesario combinar varios factores. Lo primero: reducir o eliminar el plástico de nuestras vidas. Pero también hay que limpiar lo que ya está acumulado en los océanos.

Whale sharks are not a tactile species; if you touch a whale shark this is likely to end the encounter prematurely and disrupt the shark’s natural cruising behaviours which are necessary for their overall health and recuperation.

We know that many of the operators here in , who also contribute to our research as citizen scientists, give code of conduct briefings and warn snorkelers not to touch. It is also up to YOU as an individual to obey the rules, listen to your guide and cause as little negative impact to the whale shark as possible! Guidelines for whale shark code of conduct within SAMPA have been in place since 2009, however it is the enforcement of these guidelines which is needed more than ever.

We are aware that the management plan is due to be released by , so until then maintaining code of conduct as best as we can COLLABORATIVELY is vital for ensuring a more sustainable and safe encounter for whale sharks and for people.
