Nordic Walking is an enhancement of ordinary walking - it makes something we learn to do naturally.......twice as effective! We use poles to propel the body forward thus using the upper body as well as the lower. In fact:
- 90% of your muscles are recruited when Nordic walking correctly.
- you will burn between 20-40% more calories than ordinary walking.
- great for your heart & lungs (the cardiovascular system)
- reduces pressure/impact on knees and joints.
- ideal for neck, shoulder & back problems. This is a specific fitness technique and not to be confused with trekking where poles are planted in front of the body to assist the walker. It can be done by anyone, anywhere and is a fast growing fitness activity. It is used by health professionals and fitness trainers because it is highly effective, affordable and a FUN & EXHILARATING thing to do out in the fresh air of the great outdoors! Nordic Walking technique must be learnt correctly with a qualified instructor, if the participant is to get the most out of the activity, where the body is working efficiently for health & fitness gain. Whatever age, fitness level or goal, Nordic Walking is suitable, effective & enjoyable!
