+ We stayed in Nicola’s house for one week over New years eve with 3 families. The house is beautifully located, surrounded by pure nature. It is very quiet with only a few neighbouring houses at a distance. Only 5-10min drive to the village with a good supermarkt, Restaurants and Shops, e.g. we rented snow shoes and cross country Equipment. I normally do not write reviews in booking.com, but this house is worth an exeption!
We will come again!

The cottage is just perfect, it has everything you could possibly need! We used the sauna, toasted marshmallows in the Kota, used the sledges, and had a little go on the fat bikes that were all provided! It was in the most picturesque, private location. It felt like we were in Narnia, it really was a winter wonderland.
The cottage is very warm and cosy, was never once cold. The cooking facilities are like home from home, so much so, we made use of these everyday and didn’t actually eat out at all. It was just nice to eat and relax in the cottage after busy days, play games and spend quality family time together. I would 1000% recommend this beautiful place. We are already booking to return. Nicola and Tina were most helpful, quick to respond and answered all of our questions. Thank you for an unforgettable, amazing family holiday.

Autumn is a beautiful time to visit Finland. ‘Ruska’ is the word for the colourful autumn foliage and is in one of the national parks offering hiking and biking. The northern lights begin to make their appearance and anyone is free to forage for lingonberries cranberries and mushrooms. Christmas 2025 has been snapped up after a cancellation. But another cancellation leaves the first two weeks of December available. 1-16.12.25 is free - a lovely Christmassy time to enjoy Finnish Lapland and probably the northern lights! Christmas in Finnish Lapland is very special. It is always booked at least a year in advance. Sadly our booking has had to be cancelled for personal reasons. Ice swimming is the most magical and exhilarating experience - rent this sauna down by the lake in Akaslompolo just 2km from and spend a happy couple of hours getting warm from the inside out in the cosy sauna and then taking the path down to a hole cut in the ice in bare feet and swimmers and lowering yourself carefully into the lake. Our family record was 2.5 mins in the icy water at -28C! Then repeat! If you want to come and stay with us this Christmas I can give you full details DM me or [email protected] ❄️❄️❄️

Arctic summers get surprisingly warm. Mid twenties is normal. The water, however, is a little less balmy but crisp and refreshing!!

is next to Lake Kesankijarvi which is brilliant for kayaking to Lake Akaslompolo. The dogs loved it too! And we saw a beaver!!! If you are keen to experience a summer in Finland DM me or email [email protected].

The spacious upstairs is a great sociable area and the balcony is an amazing viewing platform for the Northern Lights! The cabin is very well equipped for all your culinary needs. The BBQ hut is a great bonus! And the sauna … just wonderful! Thank you very much for a memorable week.”

We were treated to an amazing display of the northern lights this time last week on a frozen lake in the Finnish wilderness whilst out husky sledding with Juho . An incredible light display best seen between September and April on clear nights…pure magic 🤩
