The traditional way to end the sail racing season in the Helsinki area is the Avomeripurjehtijat | Havskappseglarna | Offshore sailing

❤️‍🩹 Patching the A2 and making some coffee ☕️ on the go took us to 🥈place and also secured our🥉in series.

Basically this was quite a lonely run from start to finish as the first starting group and the first boat to round the race with an 18 minute gap to the next boat. Not much weapons as the wind was increasing through the race.

A big fleet of over 50 boats celebrated the season finale, but just 5 in the class.

Thanks to fellow sailors for the season 2027 in the race books. It has been a season of good times and some disappointing moments as well. Felt fast and strong at times Musto kept our bodies well equipped and Garmin Suomi 🇫🇮 helped us build strength 💪and resilience 🌬️ that is needed when sailing a minibeast like Tegu Sailing

This weekend we were supposed to be racing at 🇫🇮 but due to a technical worry and an overwhelming life we decided not to do the long transfers and a 200 miles offshore race but to play less hard in the home waters.

September still seems to give its finest sailing conditions and the of having missed the Rauman Purjehdusseura ry is real.

Unfortunately and fortunately there is a lot going on besides sailing in our lives and a long summer with no real holidays is taking its toll 〰️ it seems.

Next season we need to

A) have a real long sailing holiday
B) Plan better ahead.

But how does these plans go together with a puppy? 🐶 Why do you want so much lovely things in your life?

The plan for Helsinki Tallinna Race 2026 was to steal as many lollipops from the big boats in FinRating I as possible. 🍭

The traditional night train from Helsinki to Tallinn succeeded to lure over 130 boats in to the starting line, to enjoy a night at the Baltic Sea. The race started in a pursuit style from slowest FinRating starting groups to the fastest – meaning we got to start at 6 PM and race against a big fleet of boats during the night.

As the smallest boat in FR1 with a bunch of very capable 40 footers it was a great effort fo finish 4th out of 26 boats in our class, mainly heading upwind and variable shifting light/mixed thunder conditions ⛈ on the 44 miles race course. In the Double handed class we managed our way to the podium, 🥈 in overall results.

All in all was a solid run and left us feeling happy and hungry as the Double Handed nationals 🇫🇮 are approaching.

For now, it seems like we are stuck in Tallinn until Monday as we are expecting a heavy low pressure swiping its way from west to east. We do not wish to be remembered of conditions just yet. It was not fun while it lasted and it was not supposed to get any better anytime soon 〰️ Royal Ocean Racing Club RET.

The hard beating and the heavy chop of the Baltic Sea took the best of us and we decided to call it a day.

Feels extremely disappointing to take the decision after pushing really hard as the smallest boat in the fleet, but the constant beating in heavy chop with all reefs already used was making us really worried about the boats capability to carry the strain. 🥺

Simple goal: energy, speed, and food you can actually cook at sea.

Think porridge with peanut butter, miso noodles, lentil couscous, tomato pasta, Thai curry — and yes, enough chocolate to keep morale alive.

But food offshore is not just about performance. It connects directly to the sea we sail on.

The Baltic Sea is under pressure — and eutrophication starts on land, from the choices we make in how we produce and eat food.

That’s why one of the most powerful individual actions is also the simplest:

👉 A more plant-based / vegetarian diet reduces nutrient runoff pressure on the sea.

Small choices on land. Real impact in the water.

As sailors, we don’t just race on the Baltic — we are part of its ecosystem.

That’s why we support initiatives like Sailors For The Sea and Baltic Sea Action Group, BSAG John Nurmisen Säätiö and the Baltic Sea Challenge, bringing responsibility into offshore sailing culture.

Because if we sail it, we should protect it. 🌊💙

📸 from our vacation week tell a different story of the Dehler | Sailing sport yachts When carrying a huge amount of weight in a boat is not your go-to, a racer becomes a lovely cruiser as well. With a bonus of getting further and faster.

The week allowed us hundreds of miles sailed as well as a hundred kilometers biked and another walked/run. When staying active this is the best life possible. Garmin Suomi 🇫🇮

We have packed her into a quick getaway mode to enjoy the warm weekends before the races in August again. 💨

Did a little to prepare for the midsummer weekend in heavy wind and rain. And more rain and no wind. 💨💧💙

Been camping all our with basically same minimalistic gear that fits into a couple of bags. Boat is always cleaned after camping and no excess stuff is left to pile up in the boat.

And where to pile up, when there are no cabins to hide your stuff. Anyways, it’s nice to have a small fridge to go and we try to prep somewhat well for easy vegetarian meals that can be made with one stove and food thermos.

Gained a lot of downwind sailing in fresh and not so fresh breeze. Slept well and wondered around in the rainy archipelago. Water is still cold and weather as well.

Geared up with new drysuits from Musto 〰️ to keep the rain and the ocean away from the skin. Would have been a bad time without them.

Finished the weekend with some first aid to another boats halyards at our home port in
