Yoga is not about mastering poses 🧘‍♀️

The poses are simply tools. Through the body, we learn awareness. Through awareness, we begin to see ourselves more clearly.

In Purna Yoga, we don't practice asana just to become more flexible, stronger, or better at yoga. We practice to bring more light, intelligence, and consciousness into the body itself.

Every stretch, every breath, every moment of attention is an opportunity to awaken something within us.

Of course, there are therapeutic benefits. Trikonasana can strengthen the legs, create space in the spine, improve balance, and support healthy movement patterns. And yes, it is enjoyable to explore what the body can do.

But the deeper purpose is transformation.

As Sri Aurobindo taught, evolution is not finished. Consciousness continues to unfold through us. The body is not an obstacle to that process—it is part of it.

We practice not to escape life, but to participate in it more fully.

Nobody teaches us how to live.

We learn how to achieve, perform, produce, and solve problems. We learn how to build careers, manage finances, and navigate technology.

But who teaches us how to find peace when life feels overwhelming? How to work with fear, disappointment, or uncertainty? How to trust ourselves? How to listen to the wisdom beneath the constant noise of the mind?

Many of us spend years gathering information, yet still feel disconnected from ourselves.

Meditation is not about becoming someone else. It is about returning to what is already there beneath the distractions, habits, and stories we have accumulated along the way.

Heartfull Meditation is a 9-week journey into the deeper dimensions of yoga and conscious living. Through meditation, reflection, and practical teachings, we explore peace, courage, gratitude, faith, joy, and the art of living from the heart.

Heartfull Meditation is intended for practitioners who already have some experience with meditation and wish to deepen their understanding and practice within a supportive community.

Savasana is not simply the end of the practice. It is where the practice is absorbed.

As the body rests and the mind becomes quiet, the nervous system has an opportunity to integrate what has just taken place. What has opened can remain open. What has strengthened can remain strong. The benefits of the practice have a chance to settle more deeply into the body and mind.

This is why we don't rush relaxation.

With skilled guidance and conscious support, Savasana becomes more than rest. It becomes a bridge between practice and daily life—a moment where effort gives way to ease, and ease reveals inner stillness.

Sometimes the most important part of yoga is learning how to receive.

For Nicola, yoga was never just about movement.

What began as a physical practice gradually became a lifelong study of healing, self-discovery, and living with greater awareness.

For more than two decades, Nicola has dedicated herself to the practice and teaching of yoga, guiding thousands of students through classes, workshops, retreats, and teacher trainings. As the owner of Purna Yoga Helsinki, her passion is creating a space where people feel supported, challenged, and truly seen.

Known for her precise teaching, warmth, and ability to recognize each student where they are, Nicola believes that yoga should be both practical and transformative — helping us move better, breathe more freely, and live with greater purpose.

Whether she is teaching a Healthy Back class, Pregnancy Yoga, Yoga Wall, Meditation, or leading a Teacher Training, her intention remains the same: to help people reconnect with their strength, their heart, and their authentic selves.

Some journeys begin with a plan. Others begin with a feeling.

Before Salla ever stepped into Purna Yoga Helsinki, she had a clear image of herself welcoming students into the studio. At the time, becoming a yoga teacher wasn't even a thought.

What first drew Salla to yoga was something many of us long for: peace.

When she discovered Purna Yoga, the words "Welcome Home" resonated deeply. Through her practice and teacher training, she realized that yoga is much more than physical postures — it is a path back to yourself.

Today, Salla shares that path with others through her warm presence and her ability to create spaces for deep rest and renewal.

✨ This autumn, Salla will be offering NeuroSound Journey — restorative 1:1 sessions combining Neurosonic vibration therapy, singing bowls, and live intuitive instruments.

✨ She will also teach weekly group Sound Bath classes, inviting you to pause, breathe, and immerse yourself in healing sound.

Backbends rejuvenate the spine.

They expand the diaphragm and ribcage, increase breathing capacity, mobilize the spine, and gently invite the body out of its habitual forward collapse.

As we age, we naturally begin to fold forward.
Backbends help us stay open, vital, upright, and present.
