SAT 29/8 – Kaiku presents: Colleen ‘Cosmo’ Murphy (US)

In a perfect world, there would always be a yearly visit from the one and only Colleen ‘Cosmo’ Murphy. The world is far from perfect but luckily this August, same as the year before, Cosmo returns to Kaiku, this time on the last Saturday of the month. She is a kindred spirit to any music lover, having led a life in pursuit of sonic treasures with the intention of sharing it with the world. From a youth spent broadcasting on community radios, like New York’s famed WNYU, to her more recent iconic creations such as the Balearic Breakfast show and the Classic Album Sundays, Cosmo’s practice links listening and community inextricably together.

In her DJ sets, she combines them with the bodily engagement of a dancefloor, weaving a tantalizing web of warm, intimate, and ecletic sounds drawing the listener into its spell. From soulful disco groovers to breezy balearia by way of jacking euphoric house, you’re in for a beautiful ride. Opening up the night is local lifer and superb selector, Ocean People. In room two, a bubbly y2k bonanza courtesy of Club Geeli’s DJ Lassi Lassi & CEX.

Limited amount of advance tickets 12 € via Eventual. Tickets from the door 16 €. Free entrance before 23:00. Welcome!

FRI 28/8 – Kaiku presents: BADSISTA (BR)

On the last Friday of August, BADSISTA, the ferocious force of funk carioca from Sao Paulo, returns to Kaiku. After three years, it’s high time to see what tricks this catalyst of Latinx musical magic has up his sleeve. Looking at his 2025 CUTEBOYZ EP, there is omnipresent the seamless flow of baile funk, house, and bass music that BADSISTA is known for. The release also examines themes of reimagining masculinity and gender at large, especially through his own process of transitioning.

The dancefloor, not unlike the streets of his hometown Sao Paulo, are places of community and regeneration which is made evident through any BADSISTA set. At its heart, its coalescing peripheral trends of baile funk with the pulsating beat of house and techno onto a sound upon which the body acts as a thermometer of sorts: does it make the body move and in what ways? Come and find out on Friday the 28th, as BADSISTA makes the mercury rise. Support comes from some of Helsinki’s finest as Kofu and Wekesa open up the night with deep digs into the sounds of Amapiano, Afro Fusion, Dancehall, and big bass music of all orientations. In room two, Nasha presents you with Youknow, Uni Böllö (LIVE), Sush, Jesse Ukkonen & Hoodipuudeli (LIVE) and Drugsonwar (LIVE).

Limited amount of advance tickets 12 € via Eventual. Tickets from the door 16 €. Free entrance before 23:00. Welcome!

SAT 22/8 – Kaiku & High Potential: Mike Servito (US)

Mike Servito is returning to Kaiku on Saturday the 22nd. Expect a confident, no-nonsense approach to music that rests on a hearty foundation of talent and staying power which emanates from a life spent immersed in different hotbeds of electronic music. First, growing up in Detroit and cutting his DJ teeth in the 90’s as techno surged to the fore on a global scale. Then, in the late 2000’s relocating to New York and finding his forever home at the legendary music hub that is The Bunker N.Y.

Today, and for the past decade plus, Servito’s career has been on an upswing that has seen him playing all over the world and garnering ever wider and much deserved recognition. The last time Servito played Kaiku was in 2015 and finally, after 11 long years, his addictive sound of house, acid, and techno returns. Opening the night is a global-local duo of immense stature, HiToshi and Hanna Ojanen. Dancing guarantee very much in effect. In room two, it’s (un)stable with Leila T, DJ Ottopus (NL), pelkkä elmo, and der Professor.

FRI 21/8 – Kaiku presents: Nicola Cruz (EC)

On Friday the 21st of August, a night of deep listening and immersive grooves awaits you. It is the Kaiku debut of Nicola Cruz, a DJ and producer from Ecuador known for his organic and polyrhythmic sound, cleverly referred to as “Andean step” which he has been developing in his home studio in the Quito mountains. Traversing both the Ecuadorian as well as the larger body of Latin American musical heritage, Cruz’s sound is at once intricate and effective. His DJ sets reflect this vast musical knowledge by combining obscure analog synthesis with field recordings and contemporary club sounds. Simultaneously spellbinding and innovative, Cruz’s music calls to mind Nicolas Jaar with whom he has collaborated as well.

With releases on labels like Klasse Wrecks, Kalahari Oyster Cult, Rhythm Section, and Nous’klaer Audio to name but a few, his sound has been gaining deserved and diverse attention. In Kaiku Cruz is joined by Lil Tony and Joshi, two dwellers of the deeper realms when it comes to music, and both endowed with a keen eye for dancefloor dynamism. In room two, it’s the well-loved Punto Electro club night, this time hosting a live set by the Brooklyn-based enigmatic Alonzo as well as DJ sets by DJ Nephil, Jennijay, and ERBR.

Limited amount of advance tickets 12 € via Eventual. Tickets from the door 16 €. Free entrance before 23:00. Welcome!

SAT 22/8 – Kaiku & High Potential: Mike Servito (US)

Few terms have suffered such inflation as “the DJ’s DJ” but sometimes there are people where it just fits. Mike Servito, returning to Kaiku on Saturday the 22nd, is one of those people. A confident, no-nonsense approach to music that rests on a hearty foundation of talent and staying power which emanates from a life spent immersed in different hotbeds of electronic music. SUN 16/8 – Saint Nia & Kaiku presents: CyberKills (BR), DIORA (ZA) b2b Saint Nia

A special bulletin for those of you with a disdain for resting days: finally, on the 16th of August, it’s all guns blazing on a Sunday. In room one, you’re faced with three devilish duos. Up top, it’s the Kaiku debut of the ferocious Brazilian DJ and producer duo CyberKills that have been combusting dancefloors left and right for the past seven years with their mixture of Latin American funk, breakbeat, and trance.

Then there’s also the devastating combination of the Cape Town-born and Amsterdam-based DIORA with Helsinki’s own Saint Nia. Hyper hyper. Club will be deconstructed, speed limits exceeded, trance transcended. Those who were present at Kaiku during COMPLEX PRIDE at the end of June will remember DIORA’s bite with sweet abandon and lingering euphoria.

And for the third pairing, a local classic, €TOM and C4KE. Fast, faster, S**T DISCO. For even more Sunday shenanigans, room two has its own orbit consisting of these stars stringed together: Kofu, Chimanda, a DJ + live set by Snapdragon, and a b2b between heartstyle cheerleader and onlyphan. SAT 15/8 – Kaiku presents: Zombies In Miami (MX)

Although zombies are often portrayed as sluggish, vacuous, and, well, zombie-like in popular culture, Zombies In Miami are cut from a different cloth. See for yourself on the 15th of August as the duo from Mexico make their debut at Kaiku. Consisting of couple Cani & Jenouise, their infectious strain of tribal, driving, and encapsulating house and nu-disco has pivoted them from Latinoamérica to playing clubs all over the world and releasing records on labels like Love On The Rocks, Permanent Vacation, Running Back, and Live at Robert Johnson. Recent years have seen them start their own label, Creatures Of The Night, through which their own and other like-minded artists’ music is being transmitted to discerning ears everywhere.

For a good glimpse of what the Zombies In Miami sound is about, listen to 2024’s The Rhythm, a pumping tour de force of percussive house that nestles in your eardrums, creeps into your spine and takes hold of your limbs, causing involuntary movements throughout the night hours. Who would’ve thought that the first order of business in the midst of a zombie invasion is so simple: dance. In room one, Zombies In Miami are joined by Trevor Deep Jr. Meanwhile, Boy Laundry takes over room two with Katvyl, Zarunii and Mangolassi.

Limited amount of advance tickets 13 € via Eventual. Tickets from the door 6 € before 23:00, 17 € after. Welcome!

FRI 14/8 – Kaiku presents: DJ Babatr (VE)

A glorious return takes place on August the 14th as the originator of Raptor House, DJ Babatr, wreaks havoc in Kaiku again. Babatr was one of the leading forces in creating the sound at the parties he organized in the barrios of Caracas, Venezuela around the turn of the millennium. After a hiatus of some fifteen years, his early productions have been unearthed by new and hungry ears which has led to him touring around the world in recent years. And rightfully so, as it’s hard to imagine anyone not getting whipped into a frenzy by the rabid blend of afro-latin rhythms, ghetto house, and trance which create the Raptor House backbone.

In the past few years, Babatr has also been producing new tracks to much acclaim, which goes to show that his creative fountain is far from running dry. Those who were present last year as DJ Babatr tore Kaiku to shreds in April know this, and the rest will find out that a raptor’s bite doesn’t wear off easily. The primary symptoms are an early onset of pummeling percussion and a lasting feeling of euphoria that doesn’t seem to settle down. In room one, joining us will be Sala and Nea2k. HYPERGASM takes over room two with DDJ400hypersl*ts, Cuttfruit and Burlesque La Europa.

Limited amount of advance tickets 13 € via Eventual. Tickets from the door 6 € before 23:00, 17 € after. Welcome!
