After becoming a mother it was evident that there are so many opinions around us on how kids should be raised and responded to.
Without a doubt helping my kids regulate their emotions (they are not 3 & 4) is the toughest job I have ever had.
I also know how tempting it is to just have some silence and how challenging it can be to stay regulated yourself when it’s one emotional outburst after another.
And how another layer is added on top of it if you are in public and strangers make comments about the way you choose to parent.
When Amaya woke up every hour throughout her whole 2 first years of life I quickly learned that I can not move against my heart. I could never sleep train her or leave her alone crying. No matter what the „experts“ said.
When I see my children move through emotions now I always feel like all emotions are accepted, not all behavior is.
I can get very overwhelmed myself if I don’t have time to recharge or regulate. Sometimes I break down as well. I am not always able to be patient.
What worries me more is how it seems so normalised that we think children bottling up their emotions is equal to good parenting. That when children don’t show uncomfortable emotions especially in public that parents have succeeded and have disciplined their child well.
I don’t believe that bottling up our emotions is equal to regulating our emotions. And while I am very aware that this way of parenting is very taxing - I hope and pray that they will learn to accept their emotions, regulate them in healthy ways and feel safe showing their emotions to people they trust the future.
Thank you for everyone who sent me encouragement and shared your stories when I asked how you manage it all 🥰 I love transparency and not the everything is perfect picture parenting stories 💗

This Germany 🇩🇪 vacation with these two little nuggets and my dad to visit my German family was unexpectedly exactly what I needed ♥️
I fell in love again with the mountains around, the scenery, the romantic old buildings, the way everyone greets you on the street and talks to you, the sarcasm and the humor, and laughing until I cry the way I tend to mostly do only when I speak German.
Being by the water every day and steady summer degrees is the kind of motherhood I enjoy the most 🙏💗 and I also noticed again how it does take a village to raise children as we always say and how beautiful it is when you are around many people of different generations and family life just happens and everyone helps each other out.
The feeling of locked in is a feeling I love 💗
Working out is that place for me💗
I have never regretted going to the gym - but I have regretted not going. Discipline and consistency become easy when you know that every worry anxiety and fear you have will feel smaller after a workout 💗
