A macro calculation is only the beginning.
The harder coaching question is what to do when the plan looks correctâbut the client cannot execute it consistently.
Do you add more rules? Demand more discipline? Or assess why the strategy keeps breaking down?
Schedule, food environment, cooking skills, hunger, preferences, digestion and recovery can all change what is realistic for the individual.
Advanced nutrition coaching means identifying the real constraint, selecting the smallest justified change and monitoring the responseârather than blaming the client or automatically making the diet more restrictive.
That is the capability developed inside the IFBB Advanced Nutrition Course:
Assess the whole case.â¨Make a defensible decision.â¨Monitor what happens next.â¨Adjust only when there is a reason.
Start learning immediately through Module 0, then join our live online weekend on 2â4 October 2026.
Upon successful completion, you will receive the official IFBB Advanced Nutrition Certificate.
Ready to move beyond meal plans and macro calculations?

When progress stalls, changing something can feel like coaching.
Sometimes it is the right response. Sometimes it only creates more noise.
Before lowering calories, adding cardio, increasing training volume, replacing an exercise, or changing the entire plan, ask:
â What has actually changed?â¨â Which signal matters most?â¨â Is the problem the plan, its ex*****on, recovery, or the surrounding context?â¨â What is the smallest adjustment that could test the hypothesis?â¨â What response would justify maintaining, progressing, or reversing that change?
Professional coaching is not about intervening as often as possible. It is about assessing the situation, explaining the reasoning, and taking responsibility for what happens next.
Because the goal is not more change.
It is a better decision for this athlete, in this context, right now.
What is the first question you ask when a clientâs progress stalls?
Save this for your next check-inâand share it with a coach who needs the reminder.
Your rows may be missing loaded scapular retraction. đ
A conventional row combines scapular retraction with shoulder extension and elbow flexion. This means several muscle groups share the task.
The chest-supported incline dumbbell shrug removes the intentional arm pull. With your elbows straight and torso supported, you can place greater emphasis on the middle trapezius and rhomboids as they retract the shoulder blades.
For better ex*****on:
â Keep your chest against the padâ¨â Maintain a neutral neckâ¨â Allow the shoulder blades to separate slightly at the bottomâ¨â Pull the shoulder blades toward the spineânot toward the earsâ¨â Keep your elbows straight throughout the movementâ¨â Add load only while the scapular movement remains controlled
This exercise solves a different training problem than rows: by making loaded scapular retraction easier to isolate and progressively overload.
Save this for your next upper-back session.â¨
Do you feel your rows more in your arms and latsâor between your shoulder blades?
Follow for more evidence-based coaching insights.

A great physique does not automatically become a great stage performance.
For many competition coaches, the same problems keep appearing:
The athlete can hold a pose in front of a mirrorâbut cannot reproduce it under pressure.
Corrections work during practiceâbut disappear when the athlete steps on stage.
Transitions look uncertain, presentation lacks structure, and contest-prep decisions become increasingly reactive as the show approaches.
These are not problems that another last-minute cue or generic peak-week checklist will solve.
They require two connected coaching capabilities:
â The ability to teach posing and stage presentation as trainable skills.â¨â The ability to manage the entire contest-preparation process through assessment, monitoring and justified decisions.
The Stage & Competition Coach Bundle combines:
⢠IFBB Stage Presentation & Posing Coach Courseâ¨â˘ IFBB International Competition Coach Course
Build a clearer system for posing, presentation, contest preparation, show day and post-competition recovery.
One pathway. Complementary expertise. Better coaching decisions where they matter most.

Any school can print a certificate. Not every school can teach physique coaching.
Adding a hypertrophy module to a generic PT course does not make it bodybuilding education.
What happens when muscle growth stalls?
When fat loss stops?
When recovery deteriorates?
When the athlete follows the programâbut the physique is no longer changing?
More volume is not automatically the answer.â¨Fewer calories are not automatically the answer.â¨Another template is not the answer.
That is where information endsâand coaching begins.
IFBB did not add bodybuilding to a course catalog. It has governed bodybuilding and fitness since 1946. For 80 years, world-class physiques have competed on IFBB stages.
That sport-specific context cannot be copied by adding bodybuilding terminology to generic fitness education.
At IFBB Nordic Academy, we teach coaches to assess, interpret, decide, monitor, and adjustâusing scientific evidence, professional judgment, and the individual athleteâs response.
We are not here to produce another certificate.
We are here to develop better physique coaches.
Donât take our word for it. Experience how we teach.

The competition is over. The coaching problem isnât.
The athlete is no longer dieting for the stageâbut hunger remains high, fatigue persists, performance has not returned and body weight may be changing faster than expected.
What should the coach change first?
More food?â¨Less cardio?â¨A lower training load?â¨More structureâor more flexibility?
The answer cannot be reduced to a fixed weekly calorie increase.
Two athletes can leave the same stage with very different recovery needs. The coach must assess energy availability, performance, fatigue, sleep, hunger, mood, eating behavior and relevant reproductive-function indicators before deciding what to change.
The goal is not to prevent every kilogram of weight regain. It is to guide the athlete from contest condition toward restored health, performance and psychological stabilityâwithout replacing one rigid protocol with another.
In this free live webinar, you will learn a practical decision framework for:
⢠what to restoreâ¨â˘ what to monitorâ¨â˘ when to adjustâ¨â˘ when the athlete needs support beyond the coachâs scope
