At Ranch Kuulas, we don't build our horses' lives around tourism. We build our business around the lives our horses deserve. ❤️

That means friends, freedom, movement, proper care, time off and work that suits each individual horse.

Our Finnhorses are not machines. They're our partners, our friends and the reason this whole ranch exists in the first place.

We believe responsible horse tourism is possible. But animal welfare should never be just a pretty sentence on a website. It should be visible in everyday decisions, all year round.

Oh, i will tell you a story....

Sometimes, old things don’t disappear.
They just find a new place to live.

This 110-year-old log house has lived many lives before us:
as a bank, a clinic, a place full of stories.

Now, it’s part of Ranch Kuulas.

Built again by hand, log by log,
and finally opened in January 2026.

And this is just the beginning.

Together with our horses,
this place is becoming a home for people who want to experience something real.

We never planned to build a ranch.

We just bought one Finnhorse. 🤍

Kuulas was only one year old when he came into our lives in 2020. We simply wanted to give him a good home.

Then one thing led to another.

The city stable didn’t feel right.
So we moved to the countryside.
Built our first little stable in seven weeks.
Were asked to take care of a few more horses.
Started taking people riding through the forests of Lapland.

And suddenly, people were travelling from all over the world to meet our horses.

That was the moment we realised:
maybe this wasn’t just our little life in the middle of nowhere.

Maybe there was something here worth sharing.

What started with one horse became Laenlammen tila.
And from that little stable came an even bigger dream: Ranch Kuulas.

A place built around Finnhorses, Lapland, good food, old stories, quiet forests and the kind of experiences that don’t feel manufactured for tourists.

Last year, we finally opened the doors to the place we had spent three years building (by ourself!!)

And somehow… we still feel like we’re only at the beginning.

All of this because of one little Finnhorse. 🥹

Of course, you can.

You can spend 7 days with us, living the full winter ranch life, riding through snowy forests, staying at our Finnish farmhouse and slowing down far away from the crowds.

But you can also come for 4 days.

Or one night.

Or simply visit us for a few hours.

Already staying somewhere else in Rovaniemi? Come for a trail ride in the snowy hills, book a sleigh ride or join us for lunch at Restaurant Loimu, transfers available.

And if riding isn’t possible for you, because of age, weight limits, experience or simply because horses feel a little intimidating — you can still experience a Finnhorse.

Let’s be honest.

You probably didn’t follow us because of the humans.

You followed us because of THEM.

So here they finally are, the horses behind Ranch Kuulas.

They all have completely different personalities, strengths, opinions and favourite jobs. Some are brave, some sensitive, some incredibly calm, some a little too clever for their own good.

And most of them are Finnhorses, Finland’s only native horse breed.

They are not just part of our business. They are the reason this place exists in the first place.

We know many of you have already been secretly choosing favourites from our videos…

So now we want to know:

Because Christmas in Finland was never just about a red suit, presents and a perfectly staged photo.

Long before Christmas became commercial, there was another kind of Christmas here.

Slower.

Quieter.

A little rough around the edges.

The Christmas tree came from the forest.

Food was prepared over several days.

The sauna was heated.

The animals were cared for.

Candles were lit.

And people gathered around the same table with nowhere else they needed to be.

That is the Christmas we want to bring back.

This December, only 10 guests will stay with us in our 110-year-old farmhouse in Finnish Lapland for three nights of an old-fashioned Finnish Christmas.

Finnhorses.
Traditional Christmas food.
A tree brought home from the forest with a horse.
Christmas sauna.
Ice swimming.
Candlelight.
Snow.
And a Christmas Day with almost nothing on the schedule.

Not Christmas performed for tourists.

Christmas you actually get to live.

We never wanted Ranch Kuulas to feel like a place that was built for tourists.

We wanted it to feel like a place you discover.

Like you opened a book, stepped through the first page and suddenly found yourself somewhere between an old Finnish farmhouse, a horse story and a slightly strange Lapland fairytale.

And the funny thing is: most of the details here were never planned just because they “look nice”.

They came from somewhere.

An old photograph.
A family story.
A horse that changed everything.
A piece of Finnish history.
Something rescued, rebuilt or carried here from another chapter of our lives.

Even many of our horses have stories that could probably fill a book of their own.

So when you visit us, ask questions.

Ask about the house.
Ask about the horses.
Ask about the objects on the walls.
Ask why something is where it is.

Because there is usually a story behind it.

And once you arrive, you become one small part of that story too.

Follow Ranch Kuulas if your kind of Lapland is less “tourist attraction” and more “I can't believe this place is real.”
