Goalie Force
I have specialised in developing young goalies into professionals and taking pros to the next level.
If your goal is to play high level hockey you have to be able to do this (as you can see I’m not even close to full split in this video).
I have hip impingement and I’m naturally super stiff so it takes more effort to keep some kind of flexibility.
I have noticed that there are theee type of goalies.
1. Those who are already doing what is need to be pro flexible
2. Those who start doing when they realize that they are not doing enough
3. Those excuse makers who say things like flexibility is overrated, there are more important things, stretching is dangerous, etc. I have not met a high level goalie ever say those things. It is always low level guys who know they should and could do more.
Wanna be more flexible? Start looking into your warm up and cool down routines.

When you are training a lot during summer you gotta eat a lot too. For example 3000 kcal is lots of food and it takes easily 3-4 big meals to get even close to that unless you hit dairy queen in the morning, Wendy’s for lunch (burger, fries and frosty combo is the best), Mac for dinner and finish the day with some hot tacos, ice cream. Maybe even hint of lime and tostidos cheese dip if you wanna make it a special night 🏆🎉
But eating ”clean” for kilo of body weight: 1.8-2.5g protein, 0.7.-1.5g fat and lots of carbs takes effort.

This is super simple drill but when done with clear purpose great for warm up. In this clip we focused on stance, knees, hip control, hand movement and drop.

Overspeed jumps is a great tool in programming for advance high school, college and pro athletes.
If you are beginner level guy (less than 3 years of solid lifting and jumping experience) and can’t do normal skating jumps controlled but still want to try these do this: jump with one foot and land on two because landing is where the injuries happen.

Why being multisport athlete is a must if you wanna be a pro goalie:
1. Only way to develop good coordination is to do different things. Doing only goalie drills on and off the ice is not enough exposure to different ways of moving to give you maximal motor learning pattern stimulus.
2. Playing other sports prevent over use injuries. Why you think North American goalies have hip problem epidemic? Playing goalie year around and 80% of physical activity is done on the ice.
3. Mental burn out doing one thing over and over again year around gets you sick of it by the time you are 20.
Bonus: Think about office life, how many people enjoy doing what they do so much that they want to be 0.025% best in the world in it. Many are okay just doing it at comfortable level and most of us never make it there no matter how much we try. In both cases self awerness is super important so you can enjoy the process.
