Weather gods playing foul on the weekend led to an abandoned match for the FinnAsia 2nd XI on Saturday against Nepal Cricket Club Ry, Finland - Everest 8848.

Sunday game had better luck in terms of the weather, better meaning we had a full game. After a dismal batting performance from Finn-Asia against Stadin Krikettikerho - SKK, our bowlers came to the rescue for defending a tight score of 105 with superb economic bowling display from Mahesh Balasaheb Tambe and wicket taking performances by Hariharan Dandapani, Zabi Ali and Nafis Ahmed Chowdhury. The ninth and tenth wicket partnership for SKK in the end pulled their side through to their second victory over Finn-Asia. Tough luck but wonderful game nonetheless. Cheers!

Unfortunately, SKK sn**ched victory from our grasp with 10 balls to spare with their match against our first team on Saturday. Opener and vice captain Aravind Kumar Mohan's return to form was a welcome sight.
Our second team scored their first win against Empire 2nd XI. Terrific bowling display overall, especially captain Mangesh Vaidya and Lav Tripathi to dismiss the visitors under 100 runs. Our batsmen stumbled initially, but finally held their nerves to come out on top.

Finn-Asia Win against FPC Falcons last Saturday

After 34 overs of pulsating contest in Kupitta, Finn-Asia managed their 2nd victory in this season against FPC Falcons. 45 runs needed off 96 balls by FPC, with 4 wickets in hand. However, bowler Nafis Chowdhury and Mahesh Tambe proceeded to remarkably offer Finn-Asia a way back into the game with some wonderful deliveries. The game was done and dusted by Mahesh Balasaheb Tambe in his very last ball of the innings, who picked up 4 for 20 in 8 overs.
Captain Hariharan Dandapani was just one run short to his first fifty of the season. Zabi Ali's 38 off 37 balls powered Finn-Asia to get a decent total on the board.

Finn-Asia started its season this weekend with a BANG!! Holding our nerves till the end, we managed to beat Helsinki CC in our first Div. 1 match! After a great performance with the bat in the first innings, our bowlers were calm and managed to sn**ch victory from the hands of Helsinki cc, giving us a tight finish and a 4-run victory at the end with Mahesh Balasaheb Tambe grabbing the top MVP spot for the match.

Unfortunately, the rain gods were not as favorable on Sunday and our Div. 3 match was abandoned with points equally shared between both the teams.

Finn-Asia played its first practice match with Tampere Cricket Club yesterday. Here is the scorecard. Hope the good start to the season continues throughout :)
