Sometimes an opportunity finds you when you least expect it.
About a month ago I received a message from a woman I had never met before. Someone who is normally the one leading women to sacred places, a book author, a powerhouse and a natural leader, who was ready to come all the way from Tulum to discover the South of France and was asking me to create the journey for her.
I remember thinking what a privilege this was, but also what a challenge and what a responsibility.
A month later I was picking Joey up in Marseille and we (together with the cello of course) were setting off on seven days of a pilgrimage that I had spent weeks researching and carefully putting the itinerary together.
We started in Saint- Baume, visiting the cave and Mary Magdalene’s grotto, travelled to the Mediterranean and then continued into the mysterious landscapes of Cathar country.
And somewhere along the way it stopped feeling like an itinerary and became something of its own.
We walked and swam, prayed and played music, laughed and cried, met extraordinary people and followed invitations and little signs that we could never have planned in advance. There were moments when I was the guide and moments when she was guiding me. Over those seven days we became sisters, guides, priestesses, mothers and daughters to one another and I think that was one of the most beautiful parts of it.
I had prepared so much for this journey, but it reminded me that creating a transformational experience isn’t about controlling what happens. You prepare, you create the container, you listen carefully and then you leave enough space for life to surprise you.
Joey, thank you for trusting me with this journey and for everything you brought into it. What an adventure ❤️
I could genuinely write a book about this week, but for now this feels like a good place to start.
