Hello everyone! 👋 Last week we brought back an old reliable activity : storytelling. Hope you'll be able to join us tomorrow night for English Corner on Zoom! Send us a message for the link.
T'was a dark and stormy night... ⛈️
Mrs. Robinson was all by herself. She was watching the evening news. As she did so, there was a knock at the door. Her dog 🐶 Barney barked. Mrs. Robinson lived far from the city, and wondered who it could be. She slowly rose from her chair, bones creaking as she stood. She heard a man's voice yelling her name. Barney, meanwhile, continued to yell at the man.
"Just a minute!" she called out. She was actually trying buy some time because she was scared.
The man replied, "It's your neighbor, Robin!" It did not sound like her neighbor Robin.
She said, "Robin is that really you?"
The man said, " No, no, I wanted to say your neighbor Robin is in danger!"
She gasped in surprise and hurried to the door. She opened it, and had no time to see the person's face. He was wearing a large rain jacket and was already turning to run up the hill. She grabbed her coat 🧥 from the rack and followed him. It was pouring rain and she could hardly see her way. The only way she could keep up was following the persistent barks of Barney. But then, after about a minute, the barks cut out with a sharp yelp.
She cried out, "Barney, Barney, where are you, come here!" The stranger was nowhere in sight, and without Barney she didn't know where to turn. She crumpled to the ground and began to cry.
Since she did not know the man's name, she yelled, "Sir, sir! Wait for me!" After a moment, through the tears and the rain, she saw the man's boots 🥾 standing in front of her. She looked up and finally got a good glimpse of his face. It was the murderer the police had been looking for for weeks. In his hands he was holding... Barney, gently petting him. In Barney's mouth, was a bone 🦴 dripping blood. Mrs. Robinson was paralyzed in fear.
The stranger knelt down, and said "don't worry, I had that bone in my pocket."
Mrs. Robinson was still worried. So she asked, "You said Robin was in danger. Where is Robin?"
The man stood back up, and said, "His house shouldn't be far now. He will be inside."
"OK, but what does he need help with?" she asked.
Something was going on, and she thought to herself, I shouldn't have followed this man.
"No use staying in the rain," the man muttered. "It's only a few more yards."
As the cold of the rain seeped through her clothes, she stood, hopeful at the thought of a warm house, safe from the rain. After a few steps, she saw a hand coming out of the ground. 🧟♂️ She jumped, but then shook her head remembering Robin's very strange taste in lawn decorations. She continued forward into the pool of light from the open front door. She heard a group of children ask a neighbor, "Trick or Treat?"
Of course, Mrs. Robinson thought. How could I have forgotten Halloween? Robin always gets stuck in his fake spiderwebs. 🕸 Now Mrs. Robinson was soaking wet, but relieved. The stranger chuckled. "Next time, you should actually give people treats when they come in costumes."
The End 🎃

Happy Thursday! Last week we had a few newcomers, but we still managed to come up with a pretty thrilling story. Thanks to all who came, and join us tonight for another round of English Corner! That's 19h on Zoom.
« Once upon a time, in snowy country, a man named Jack was driving a dog sled. He found himself in a terrible blizzard. His problem was that he had almost nothing left to eat. His cell phone was broken, so we couldn't call 911.
It was midnight, and he saw a little home with a light. He went to knock on the door. Suddenly, while he was knocking on the door, he heard a noise, like strange voices. The light went out, and it was completely dark. The weather started to change. He heard footsteps coming towards the door. He was terrified, but he had no choice but to wait for the door to open. He was sweating and scared, but he was also starving, so he waited. The doorknob turned, and the door creaked open an inch, and he saw... a little boy, who looked kind and sweet, who said, "Hello!"
The man replied, "Hello... May I have something to eat?"
The boy said, "My father left two days ago to buy food, and he hasn't come back yet. But please, come in!"
"Oh, you're very nice. Do you live here alone?"
"No I'm here with Grandmother, but she's sick, resting in her room." Then the boy took out his old Nintendo console, and started playing space invaders.
Jack heard a noise coming from upstairs. A kind voice said, "I heard someone needs a home-cooked meal?" And the house was filled with the smell of what seemed to be freshly baked bread.
And so Jack learned that this was a magic house 🏠 with a magic grandma 🧙♀️ who bakes magic bread 🍞. »

Greetings! We had a great time during the English Corner last time. For those who weren't there, together we told a fascinating story about old elfs🧝♂️, aliens👽, and lost cities🏛️. Check it out below! 👇
We can't wait to see you this Thursday, same time, same place! (19h - 20h, by Zoom)
Like every day the Elf was hunting in the forest. The elf was hunting dragons. The dragons were spitting fire. Moreover, they were gigantic, and that's why all the animals in this forest were very frightened. There was an old man who was not frightened. The Elf was that old man, because he was 163 years old. And he knew how to kill dragons and dodge all the spits of fire.
The elves had the power of the forest, because they could pray to connect with Mother Nature. Their bond was so tight that they could communicate with their thoughts. One day, a spaceship landed near the forest, and out came a creature with silver skin, who spoke a different language. With his power, the elf knew that the creature was not bad, so he went and just tried to communicate. They couldn't communicate, and the alien touched a tree and took control of the whole forest. Suddenly, the forest went dead silent; the elves could no longer hear the soothing voice of Mother nature. It was chaos.
Someone opened a huge door from the inside of the spaceship, and a yellow alien appeared. All the elves could hear its voice through the trees, and he said, "I've been looking for my ancient city." The Elf knew that Mother Nature was waiting a thousand years for the coming of the alien, and it's the reason why he felt the creature wasn't bad. He had to try and communicate with him. The old man came to speak with the alien, and he said he was expecting him; the old elf is the king of the island. In order to celebrate the victory of the ancient city, they decided to hold a ceremony to summon it from under the water. They ordered many bottles of champagne, and cookies! They laid all their cookies in a big circle, and popped all their champagne bottles at the same time. After this party, the alien returned in his spaceship and came back with a little wooden chest. The alien gave it to Mother Nature, and she put it on the highest hill of the forest. Legend has it that the little wooden chest is still on top of the hill. No one dared touch it, for it was far too powerful.
Many centuries later, a little porcupine wandered on top of the this hill and started sniffing the box. With his nose he opened the chest and a crystal flew up into the sky. Around the beach, the ground started to shake and an earthquake was coming. Then the seafloor split open, and the legendary city rose to the surface of the sea.

Hello everyone! Hope you had a good week! Last week we had an adventure in the forest on a sky island with a lovely princess who had a frightening encounter with a turtle! (Story at the bottom if you wanna read it 😉) Come tune in again to English Corner tonight at 7pm - 8pm! Anyone is welcome and we'd love to have ya! Leave a comment and we'll send the link to join! 😁
《 Once upon a time there was a princess👸 living on an island in the sky.☁️ She was alone in a giant forest🌲, with many animals. She was very happy to be all by herself because she hated other human beings. After awhile the princess got bored and decided to go and meet some people. She found on the edge of the island a sky boat⛵ with one wing, so she couldn't leave the island. She took upon herself to search on the island for the other wing. Upon observing the mass amount of trees🌲 around her, she discovered the wing at the peak of the largest tree. She tried to climb the tree but everytime she fell because it was too smooth. After two days she decided to light a fire 🔥to attract the attention of the people living on the island two miles away. Accidentally, she got burned by the fire. She almost started crying out because of what was happening until she spotted a turtle🐢 running after a coconut. 🥥She decided to grab the coconut and smash it against the turtle. The turtle turned towards her as he grew in size and strength, fueled by his anger💢 towards the princess. She started to run as fast as possible until she fell on the sand, and turned towards the turtle. What the princess didn't know is that this turtle was a magician, so it turned the princess into a worm!🐛 And since the turtle was still very angry at her, he decided to stomp on the worm. The turtle transformed into a ninja turtle and he ate😋 the worm! Little did the magician know, there was still a bit of magic in the princess. With her last efforts to finally be free again, she turned into a butterfly 🦋in the belly of the turtle a

Hey hey! How are you all doing? We had another excellent week of English Corner! It was filled with many laughs and smiles as we got to know more about each other, and as we made ANOTHER crazy adventure story!
We took the time to celebrate one of our member's birthday, too! 🎂🎁🎉🥳
You want to know what our story turned out to be? Well here you go!
《 Once upon a time there was a rabbit🐇 living on a blue island🌴. The island was filled with volcanoes 🌋. The volcanoes were dark and loomy. In these volcanoes there were some waterfalls 💧. The rabbit was in a depressive situation because of the confinement 🔒. But he found a fish, warmed it up, and ate it 🐟! And then he decided to build a pink boat🛶. But before he had the opportunity to navigate, he was attacked by a bunch of snails🐌! It was a gang of snails, they were blood-thirsty and they wanted to rob him💢. The rabbit successfully fended off the attackers and sailed off! When he was in the middle of the purple sea, a big whale 🐳 jumped over the boat. The whale simply wanted to make new friends, and said, "Hello rabbit, what's your name? Don't be scared, okay?" The rabbit told the whale he must turn back and bring some coconuts🥥 for Liliane's birthday🎉. Then they decided to drink cocktails and they got drunk. They soon ended the party and returned to their home. They lived happily ever after, the end! 》
A nice ending to a nice story! We hope you learn some words from this creative story.
It was a splendid time, hopefully we'll see you all this week! All are welcome, have a good one! ✌

Hello English Cornerians! Last week we had a good time together on zoom!
We learned about using on the contrary, to the contrary, and on the other hand.
Plus! We played an epic game of storytelling and adventure! We created this story by each giving a sentence, one after another. We hope you enjoy it, it sure made us laugh!
《 Once upon a time Santa Claus 🎅 rose from the dead, and on the way he met Cinderella. 👸 They travelled through the castle and had dinner together. 🏰 The dinner was delicious!
They had a soup of eyeballs 👀 with snale slime 🐌, and for desert a unicorn horn. 🦄
They did not recognize the waiter who was Dracula. 🧛♂️
It was wonderful to meet a vampire, but it was scary at the same time. 😨
It was scary because Dracula was the owner of this castle, along with all his vampire minions. 🦇
The minions were like teenie tiny vampires with bloody fangs and pale skin.
At around midnight they heard a horrifying scream. 😱
They discovered that it was a clown. 🤡
Upon discovering this clown it turned into a massive werewolf who ate them all! 😵 The end! 》
Pretty crazy right? 😂
Stay tuned for the next episode! 📺
