The masters of suspense...
After almost 1,900 miles of racing, the fleet has hit a slow wind bubble and suddenly everything is possible again.

🔧 In today’s episode, we take you onboard Malizia 4 as the crew make the most of the lighter conditions. Boris and Cole show us how they managed to repair the foil system using some seriously creative solutions, and the results are already looking good.

🚀 During today’s watch, Cole and Justine managed to keep Malizia 4 flying at an average of 21.1 knots for 25 minutes in just 12 knots of wind. Not bad at all.

🤫 Julien also breaks down the weather strategy and explains why Malizia 4 has chosen the northern route, while DMG MORI Global One heads south and 11th Hour Racing and United by the Ocean take the middle route.

And of course, Gauthier brings you some stunning drone footage of Malizia 4 racing across the Atlantic. The perfect way to escape for a few minutes after a long day at work.
Three routes. Three strategies. One big question: who will find the wind first?

The masters of suspense 🤯

We’re witnessing a restart of the race, and suddenly everything is possible.

The big question now: who will get out of the slow wind bubble first?

🔵 Northern route: Malizia 4
🟢 Southern route: DMG MORI Global One
🟡 Middle route: 11th Hour Racing and United by the Ocean

Different strategies, same goal: find the wind and get back up to speed.

Who’s played the right card? 👀

After an intense night in 40 knots of wind, big seas and barely any sleep… sometimes you just need a little skincare to feel human again. 😂

The last 24 hours onboard Malizia 4 have been anything but easy. After the port foil impact, technical issues and some seriously challenging conditions, the crew have been pushing hard to keep the boat moving and stay in the fight.

But even in the middle of a transatlantic race, there’s always time for the essentials… right, Cole and Boris? 😂

40 knots all night. Skincare in the morning. Priorities. 🌊

🚨 A tough night onboard Malizia 4.
The crew had a scary moment after an impact with what was likely a small marine mammal or large fish, resulting in an issue with the port foil ram.
But they’ve found a solution and Malizia 4 is back racing at full speed. 💪

Team Malizia Back At Full Speed In The Ocean Race Atlantic After Assessing And Solving Technical Issue

5 September 2026, North Atlantic
This Saturday morning at approximately 04:30 UTC, while racing at night at around 25 knots in 16 knots of wind at approximately 40°N, 54°W in the North Atlantic on Day 3 of The Ocean Race Atlantic, Team Malizia’s crew, skippered by Boris Herrmann, informed its shore team that an impact to the port foil of Malizia 4 likely involving a small marine mammal or large fish had resulted in a technical issue with the foil ram.

All crew members are safe, and there seems to be no structural damage to either the foil or the yacht. The crew had stopped the boat to assess the situation and determine whether a full, potentially long and complex repair was required or whether a temporary fix could be carried out on board.

The crew has now managed to find a solution and has successfully secured the foil ram in place. Two fasteners were installed from the sail locker side to lock the ram in position, and the ram was additionally lashed to prevent any movement. The foil is safely resting on its bumpers and is no longer moving.
While saddened by the encounter, both the crew on board and the shore team are relieved to have found a solution allowing Malizia 4 to race at full speed again. They will carry out additional checks in daylight to confirm the structural condition of the foil and will continue to monitor the situation closely.

Team Malizia’s A Race We Must Win – Climate Action Now! mission which combines sailing, science, education and partnerships is only possible due to the strong and long-lasting commitment from its six main partners: KPMG Germany, the Yacht Club de Monaco, EFG International, Zurich Group Germany, Hapag-Lloyd, and Schütz. These partners band behind Team Malizia to support its campaign, each of them working towards projects in their own field to innovate around climate solutions.

The clouds are making things interesting out here. 🌥️🌊
Day 3 of The Ocean Race Atlantic was another tricky one onboard Malizia 4, with unstable winds, big shifts and clouds constantly changing the game. The crew had to stay on it, reacting to every little change to keep the boat moving fast and in the right direction.

But despite the challenges, the team came out on top again, winning today’s Super Sprint during the live show! ⚡️
And the best part? The six IMOCAs are still incredibly close, so this race is FAR from over.
