Not much have been going on at our page the last couple of weeks. There's a reason for that.
At this year's Oure-camp the danish 49er team Allan Nørregaard and Anders Thomsen asked us if we wanted to join them for a team, making up two Nacra17 teams.
And we've now decided to start sailing the Nacra17! It's a decision we've made because we think we can learn really much by joining this project and it's a great opportunity to become better sailors.
This means that we're no longer sailing 49erFX. It was a tough decision to make because we really enjoyed sailing the FX and we had so much fun sailing together. But we're still gonna travel around with each other and act as if we're one team consisting of 4 sailors - just on two different boats. We're gonna miss sailing together but we're looking really much forward to this new project.
A week ago we had a training camp in Kaløvig near Aarhus where we sailed Nacra17. It was nice getting started and luckily the Nacra17 is very similar to the 49er which makes the change easier.
After the training camp we packed the boats for Miami, where we'll go training in January.

This week we're at Oure for training camp. We've had physical tests every morning and sessions on the water afterwards.
At the water we're 13 49erFX with four new Danish boys crew and visits from Sweden, Norway, Germany and Finland. It's really nice with such a big fleet and the training quality is high.
Today we've both tried the Nacra 17. In the morning it was windy and Line sailed with Allan Nørregaard while Lin sailed the FX with Anders Thomsen. In the afternoon session we switched and they gave us a lot of tips and tricks in both boats.

The last week back in Denmark we have spend time unpacking the boat and studying. After three weeks away from school there's a lot to catch up on. But why not use the weekend for some sailing?
This weekend Line joined the danish Melges24 sailing team Salty Dog for a regatta in Hellerup. They won the regatta with only 18 points after 11 races! It's nice with a lot of new inputs and we're sure you become a much better sailor by trying different boats and joining different teams now and then.

49er/49erFX World Championship 2013
01/10/2013
We're now back in Denmark after 3 weeks in Marseille. It was a great experience to participate in the first world championship for 49erFX!
For us it was a regatta with ups and downs but overall we just feel that we've learned so much about racing 49er in a big fleet which definitely will be useful for our training and the regattas next season.
We'll be in Denmark for training the next months.

Today we had three races in strong wind - finally some windy conditions at this regatta. We had really good speed and we won one of the races today!
Unfortunately there was a chaotic situation at the gate in the third race where we had a collision with another boat and broke our spinnaker pole and couldn't finish the race. Tomorrow is the last day and the boat is fixed again and ready for racing.

"Lige ved og næsten, slår ingen mand af hesten" (a Danish saying describing our situation this evening). We didn't have enough speed in the first race today which made it really difficult to make a good result. The second race was acceptable but still not enough. After today's racing the fleet is split into a gold (top 20 boats) and a silver fleet. We're now 4 points from the cut and therefore we'll sail in the silver fleet tomorrow. It's too bad that we didn't make it into the top 20 but there's still some racing to do and we're ready to get back on the water tomorrow.
(No wind this morning - the pic is from the drive to the harbor)

Yet another day with light breeze. Again today we were postponed before sent on the water. We're sailing in two fleets and our fleet got two races and the other fleet only one race because the wind was too light on their course. Our results today was 11 and 2 and we're happy about today's racing. Tomorrow is the last day with qualification races and it's gonna be exiting.
Tonight we're relaxing in the apartment watching AC finals!

First day at the Worlds! We were postponed this morning because there was no wind. Then finally the wind picked up and the 49er fleet had two races. After that the girls were sent on the water and we also had two races in very light breeze. We are very happy about our performance today but unfortunately we got an yellow flag right after the second start for pumping too much and got a penalty. In these conditions it's really difficult to make a good result after making a penalty but we managed to get back in the game and our results today is 9 and 15. Tomorrow we won't start before 1pm and it looks like it's gonna be light wind conditions again. Now - relaxing in the apartment.

Tomorrow starts the Worlds!! :D We haven't had the best preparation for this regatta because Line has been sick the last few days, but we hope that she's ready for racing tomorrow. This evening was the opening ceremony (the picture is from tonight's sunset). We're exited about tomorrow where we'll start our first race around 1pm.
