The 5 Highest Cable Cars in the Alps
5. Grade Motte (3,456 m - France): The summit of the Tignes/Val d’Isère ski area, deep in the Vanoise region of France.
4. Skyway Monte Bianco (3,466 m - Italy): Overlooks the Mont Blanc Massif on the Italian Side, above the town of Courmayeur.
3. Testa Grigia (3,480 m - Italy/Switzerland): At the Swiss–Italian border above Cervino, connects the resort to Zermatt’s Matterhorn Glacier Paradise, the highest cable car in the Alps.
2. Aiguille du Midi (3,842 meters / France): Holds the record for the highest vertical ascent cable car (climbing nearly 3,000 meters from the valley floor).
1. Matterhorn Glacier Paradise (3,883 m / Switzerland): Year-round skiing (except for this year) and panoramic glacier views.
Although they are technically not cable cars, honorable mention goes to the funicular railways at Saas Fee and Les 2 Alpes, which reach about 3,500 and 3,400 meters respectively.
