I'm a wife, a mother and an ultra runner.

I'm also using social media to:
> advocate that women can have their own interests and passions outside of family life, and
> work against female under-representation in distance running.

Good recovery so far after La Pastourelle. Now trying to be more consistent.
Andorra only a few weeks away… focus will be hills, elevation, and long runs.

4x 3m sprints (4:15/km) at 0.5% incline with 3m recovery. Targeting VO2max improvements.
Every hard effort has a purpose.
First intervals session since last summer. Easing in gently… 😮‍💨

Ok, so, by some miracle I made the lottery for .
101km and 6000m elevation gain from Courmayeur to Chamonix via Champex, basically running two-thirds of the way around Mont Blanc.

I’ve had a recent break from running due to some work and family stuff that had to take priority, so I’ve been very slowly building back up to regular running since the start of December, with some strength training thrown in as well.

I’m going to share my runs and training plans, strength routines etc if anyone wants to follow along to see how well or disastrously it all goes…! I promise to share the rough with the smooth!

Time to get the poles back in commission!!v

Back on easy runs this week following Luchon Aneto Trail. This chap is very happy to back on the trails with me, as you can see (he wasn’t impressed to be left behind for Luchon).

Not putting any interval sessions into my week yet as I fell last week (during my event) where I landed awkwardly and twisted my knee a little, so letting that settle.

First run after Luchon event .
First 15 mins felt very creaky,
Next 30 mins warming up,
finally feeling ok 45mins into the run.
to be injury free after my event, which is good because I definitely need to focus on basics and strength training to build a better and more consistent foundation.
Unfortunately work and life are taking priority atm so need to prioritise what I can… will be keeping up with running foundations, strength training, conditioning, yoga, flexibility etc.
Looking for my next ultra for next year, hit me up with suggestions in France 🇫🇷

Merci pour ce génial weekend !!
La Venasque était extraordinaire! nous avons eu de la chance avec la météo dimanche (une fois au-dessus des nuages) 😎☀️

Had a great time this month running from the sea to 1000m elevation in just 13.5km from Saint Jean de Luz to La Rhune mountain. Then crossing over into Spain before meeting up with the family on the other side.
I took a few photos just before going up into the cloud layer. Gorgeous view 😍.

It’s not always perfect in real life, and social media shouldn’t be any different. So sharing. HRV (heart rate variability) shows the story. Coming out of a funky week or so.
Possibly linked to alcohol consumption (for someone who only drinks once in a blue moon on social occasions, we’ve had guests staying, so I’ve had a glass or two of wine for 6 evenings out of the 12.
May also be sleep & stress related, and diet has been piss-poor too.

This too shall pass.

I was able to get hubby off his bike long enough to get a run together 🥰. He’s actually started factoring weekly runs into his training plan, so hopefully more on the cards and I’ll be able to share some good routes with him :)

That feeling when you nail an interval session and get it just right. 🤩
The aim was to improve my lactate threshold… Comment if you want details on these longer intervals.

Windy but sunny on the Seine

Not such a big month compared to peak pre-race Feb, but March included my 80k race and several recovery weeks :)
