My dear pal, Steve Strange who took me under his wing back in 1979/80 after Spandau had played a couple of gigs at his club, The Blitz. It’s when my band got noticed and we eventually signed a record contract because of those shows.
Steve and I remained close friends, right up until he passed away nine years ago. Today. I owe him so much.
Bless you, Stevie, you were like an older brother to me.

True: 40th Anniversary Diaries - August 3rd, 1983 - The band is taken from Battersea heliport to Cleethorpes to appear at The Radio 1 Roadshow in front of thousands of ecstatic fans. On returning to London Gary Kemp did a phone interview with Jim Henke of Rolling Stone to promote the 'True' single which was rocketing up the US Billboard charts. In the evening The promo video edit of 'Gold' took place at Carlton Studios in St Johns Wood.
