Ahimsa is often translated as non-violence.
But it asks for something deeper than simply being nice.
It invites us to become aware of the harm we create through our words, actions, thoughts, and even the way we treat ourselves.
Ahimsa is not weakness.
It is not avoiding difficult conversations.
It is not pretending that everything is okay.
It is learning to act without unnecessary harm, while remaining truthful and courageous.
Perhaps practising ahimsa begins with a simple question:
“Can I meet this moment with less harm and more awareness?”
