South Wales Reivers Tier 2 League Game Day One is in the books, and we have our first points on the table in our maiden Tier 2 season!

There was plenty of action and goals across two hard-fought fixtures against Sheffield Knights BHC. While we came up short in the opening game, the Reivers rallied to take the second contest and earn our first Tier 2 victory.

Reiver of the Day went to Max Allars, who epitomised the grit and effort of the team throughout the afternoon (that penalty kill shift was something else!).

Special mention also goes to Ed and Tyler, who made their National League debuts and both got themselves on the scoresheet. 💪👏🏻

A huge thank you, as always, to the Ball Hockey UK staff, referees and timekeepers for their work throughout the day. Also a fist bump to Sheffield Knights for a competitive and enjoyable afternoon of hockey.

We battled hard and showed plenty of heart from first ball drop to the final whistle. However, with a comparatively short bench against a very strong Thunder line-up, we came up short on the scoreboard. Credit where it’s due for their game and depth last night 🫡

We’ll learn from it, regroup, and get back to work for sure 💪

We are not affiliated with the brand in any way, this was just the outcome of a highly scientific 👀 taste testing from the Skiprats C***r Club dept who religiously keep score week after week…AFTER week! 🤣 We are impressed they keep finding new tipples to add to the list every Thursday.

Club followers will be pleased to note that the tasting has resumed already following awards 2026. In the name of Science, competition and ‘Beer League Hockey’ 🐀

Ball hockey is essentially ice hockey played off the ice, on a non-ice surface and using a ball instead of a puck. You get the speed, teamwork and excitement of hockey — without needing to know how to skate!

🐀 R A T S vs. T H U N D E R ⚡️

The Skiprats will be travelling down the A470 for an away game day at House of Sport to face Cardiff Bay Thunder Ball Hockey Club Monday evening.

For several players this will provide further ‘pre-season’ game day experience ahead of upcoming commitments; including Nationals, Welsh Conference, and international endeavours in Canada 💪

Game day captains are recent Players’ Player of the Season Ashley Loynton and Committee Player of the Season Stephen Thomas Pye - let’s get into one!!!

After an impressive and highly successful first year competing in Tier 3 last season, your Aberdare Skiprats Ball Hockey Club and Cardiff Bay Thunder Ball Hockey Club are back as a combined force with the South Wales Reivers 💪

Following promotion to Ball Hockey UK Tier 2 Nationals for 2026-27, the team faces the prospect of some tough but exciting opposition!
We start our season at the end of the month, taking on the Sheffield Knights in a double-header format.
