Buchanhaven Hearts 5-3 Aberdeen East End

Always hard playing up at Buchanhaven Hearts — not an easy venue to go to.

East End almost took the lead in the 1st minute when Adam Reid's effort hit the post. Just 2 minutes later, disaster struck when new loanee goalkeeper Aidan Linton received a red card, which meant East End had to play with 10 men for 85 minutes.

The boys put in a great shift but soon found themselves 1-0 down. Showing great character, they levelled — a long throw from Wozzy found Lee McAllister who finished well to make it 1-1.

The home side then went 2-1 up, before Cammy Ross scored a superb free-kick for East End to make it 2-2.

The away side started to tire with 10 men and found themselves 3-2 down, then 4 and 5.

East End didn’t give up and got one back when Ben Mair found Craig Mackie to finish well.

ABERDEEN EAST END 1-5 BRIDGE OF DON THISTLE
Friday Night at Lochside Park -Home of Hermes FC

For the second time in a week, East End faced double cup winners Bridge of Don Thistle.

It was the visitors who started the brighter of the two sides, with the first chance of the game going over the bar before striking the woodwork minutes later.

East End then began to grow into the game. A superb tackle in midfield from Bloomer set Mackie away, who slipped Ruben through on goal and he made no mistake to put the home side 1-0 up.

BODT responded and were awarded a penalty. Park pulled off a great save, but the away side were quickest to react to the rebound and levelled at 1-1. The visitors then looked the hungrier side and soon took the lead at 2-1.

On the stroke of half-time, Rueben had a golden chance to make it 2-2 but the BODT keeper saved well.

Half-Time: 1-2

East End came out strong in the second half and Rueben was inches away from an equaliser with an effort just wide.

From there, BODT started to turn the screw and showed why they are double cup winners. They found their third and then quickly added a fourth to kill off any hopes of a comeback.

Adam Reid had a great chance to pull one back which had the home support up thinking it was in, only to hit the side netting.

BODT were awarded a second penalty but fired wide, before wrapping the game up with a fifth on the stroke of full-time.

A tough result against a top side, but the lads kept going to the end. We dust ourselves down and go again.

One to forget about.

East End had a promising start. Wozzy came close and put a great chance over the bar from 6 yards out.
Then Mackie hit the woodwork twice.

The home side had 3 chances in the first half and were clinical.
3-0 HT

Second half there wasn’t a great lot to write about. Very little chances for both teams.
The home side had 1 chance and took it. 4-0
Then at the death they had a cross/shot which found the top corner going over Park’s head.
5-0 FT

Head up, learn, and go again. Tough day at the office.
