I’m proud to have taken on a number of physical and personal challenges in support of the Gathimba Edwards Foundation (GEF)—a remarkable charity transforming lives in Kenya and north-east Scotland through education, housing, and long-term support.

Having volunteered and travelled to Kenya with the charity, I’ve seen first-hand how GEF helps children get into school, builds safe homes, and creates opportunities many of us take for granted.

Each challenge I’ve tackled has been driven by a desire to make a real difference—and now, I’m preparing for my biggest yet: Beat the Sun 2025.

This epic coast-to-coast cycling challenge stretches across Scotland, from its easternmost point all the way to Ardnamurchan Lighthouse in the west.

Push Yourself, Not Against Others

Fitness and health are deeply personal journeys, and the most powerful competition is not with others but with yourself. Every time you step into the gym, lace up your running shoes, or prepare a healthy meal, remind yourself that your goal is progress, not perfection.

The person you were yesterday is your greatest rival. Strive to take one more step, lift one more rep, or make one healthier choice than you did the day before. These small, consistent efforts add up to monumental change.

Stop comparing your Chapter 1 to someone else’s Chapter 20. Each of us has our own challenges, our own hurdles, and our own victories. What matters most is that you show up for yourself, give your best, and continue to move forward.

So today, challenge yourself to grow. Challenge yourself to work harder, push further, and love yourself through the process. Because the only competition that truly matters is becoming the best version of you. Be relentless. Be consistent. And above all, be better than you were yesterday.
