We are thrilled to announce that star of Call the Midwife, Laura Main, has been appointed Aberdeen Arts Centre's new patron.

Laura got her first taste of performing here at the Arts Centre during summer workshops - and landed her first starring role here as the lead in Phoenix Theatre & Phoenix Youth Theatre's debut production, Annie.

Laura said: “Aberdeen Arts Centre holds a very special place in my heart. It’s where I began my performing career, so to be returning as the centre’s patron is a real honour.

“The opportunities that the Arts Centre provides for thousands of performers every year – both amateur and professional – are vital for the creative longevity of the north east of Scotland.

The May Music Extravaganza is returning to the Music Hall on Saturday 23 May at 3pm 🎀 Sit back and experience the uplifting power of music as local choirs and musicians entertain you.

Time for another sneak peek behind the curtain of a working theatre!

Our tech team from Granite City Events has been busy installing new lighting bars in the Children's Theatre, to allow us to hang lights and tech equipment in the future. At the weekend they were load tested, meaning they are safe to use.

This is part of our long-term plan to stage even more productions in the Children's Theatre, and provide professional-quality facilities for local performing groups and artist development projects in Aberdeen.
