Glentanar Community Football Club

Yesterday our 2019s took part in their first ever 4v4 festival at Colony Park. We were delighted with the effort that all the boys put in, and more important they all had a great time playing football.

A big thanks to some of our 2018s coaches and players and the 2010 player who came along to support the team.

We are now looking forward to the boys next festival at Banchory on Sunday!

Today the boys stepped up to the challenge once again as we faced Thistle Youth FC Jags. 💛💙⚽
After losing our first two games, there was definitely some pressure going into this one. The most important thing was to control the emotions, stay focused and finally start playing the football we know we are capable of.
From the first whistle, the result was far from certain. Thistle created some very good opportunities, especially through well-worked counter-attacks, and caused us plenty of problems. Thankfully, our goalkeeper produced some important saves and helped us keep a well-deserved clean sheet. 🧤
After the opening 10 minutes, things started to click. We found our rhythm, began to take control of the game and the boys showed great determination, effort and desire.
Two fantastic long-range strikes from our captain Kevin gave us a 2–0 lead, before Alexander B. added another to make it 3–0 at half-time. ⚽⚽⚽
The message for the second half was simple: stay focused and keep playing our football.
The boys did exactly that. We continued attacking from both sides of the pitch and eventually got our reward with another goal from Nekwu to make it 4–0.
Despite the scoreline, we couldn't switch off. Thistle kept fighting, creating chances and attacking right until the final whistle, so the boys had to remain disciplined and focused throughout.

A massive well done to the whole team. After two difficult opening games, the boys showed character, worked for each other and responded in the best possible way.

Our 2011 team were at home to Formartine yesterday and ended with a 9-1 win.
was a great performance all round well deserved won for the boys.
there was some great passing, some brilliant through balls and great team effort from everyone today and some exciting football to watch keep up the hard work some cracking goals scored

Last Sunday, Glentanar CFC 2013 Yellows welcomed Culter United 2013 for our first game of the new season.
Unfortunately, the match didn’t go the way we had hoped and we had to accept that Culter were the better side on the day. With several players unexpectedly unavailable, we started the game with just one substitute - goalkeeper! Even that barely lasted, as our left back picked up an injury and had to be replaced.
Despite the difficult circumstances, we created some good chances but unfortunately couldn’t make the most of them. We went into half time trailing 1–5.
The second half was a completely different story. The boys showed great character, determination and fighting spirit. They kept working for each other, scored another goal and conceded only once in the entire second half.
The final score was Glentanar CFC 2013 Yellows 2–6 Culter United 2013.
Not the start to the season we wanted, but plenty to take from that second half performance. We’ll learn from it, keep working and come back stronger.
