The World’s best players don’t avoid frustration.
They just don’t let it affect the next shot.
Golf punishes anger.
It punishes impatience.
So the question is:
Can you feel it… without letting it play the next shot for you?

Rory’s hands were shaking on the first tee.

Good.

That’s a good sign.

Most golfers think nerves are a problem.
They try to calm down… slow everything… play safe.

Rory’s mindset is different:

👉 Expect the nerves
👉 Accept the nerves
👉 Keep swinging anyway

That’s the shift.

Not eliminating pressure…
But performing with it.

Next time you feel nervous on the first tee, remember that you don’t need to be calm to hit a good shot, trust the process and you will settle.

Great players don’t just have a great pre-shot routine…
they have a great between-shot routine.

Because this is where rounds can get away from you.

When your pace speeds up, your mind follows. We your thoughts go, your feelings follow.

That’s your cue to reset. Lucas Aberg tells us that he uses “box breathing”, which is:

Breathe in for 4.
Hold for 4
Breathe out for 4

Hold for 4.

This brings everything back down.

Control your state → control your game.

Was I fully committed to the shot?

If you want to improve your scores in tournaments, start evaluating yourself the same way.

Results second.

The best putters are both artists and athletes. They can engage the right side of the brain (the visual and creative side) and turn off thinking, allowing the stroke to happen without conscious thought.
