Today our primary teams travelled up to Kingussie to take on some of the best talent in the country. Attending these competitions give our players the chance to experience teams we rarely get to play and learn so much from playing them.
44 teams and over 350 kids playing shinty in such a brilliant setting 👏

In P1-3 our very small team (Oskar, Bohdin, Angus, Michael, James, Callan with Abbie and Orla playing their first shinty tournament ever) took on some much bigger teams and learned a lot about playing the game at 6 a side.
The team were caught stage struck in the first game and then had a few tough games, but the team battled to a 0-0 on the last game. A brilliant effort by all and i'm really looking forward to seeing how this team grows and develops together.
They really got into it and finished with a draw and lots of smiling faces which is the most important thing at that age.
In P4/5
The majority of the team were stepping up from Development and a whole new experience for them.
Ben, Lachie and Archie really the only 3 who have played 6s at this level.
There was a few stage fright moments to begin with but all grew as the day went on. Lewis, Grace, Whit, Niamh and Daisy (on her debut) all transformed as the day went on. Early games they dominated but just couldnt find the net, however as they went on they beat some great teams. The only team to beat Newtonmore in normal time. A great achievement as Newtonmore won their semi, drew the final in normal time to Cabers. But lost on penalties.
A great learning experience for all.
In P6/7
A slow start from the blacks (Reuben, Murdo, Freddy, Rory, Otto, Connor) and losing close games to both BSGP and Inverlochy. They picked up from that point, winning the 3 out of the next 4 games and drawing with the eventual winners Newtonmore.
Murdo, Connor, Otto and Rory sharing the GK position, while great defencive play from Rory and Freddy, Rueben running the middle and Connor, Murdo and Otto rotating up front.
A good team effort and it was just fine margins that cost them a semi final place.
Charlie, Millie, Miller, Alex, Jackson, Sholto and Seoras turned out for the Whites today.
7 players and 7 games; everyone had a shot in goals and started one of the games as a sub! Everyone was great at sharing game time!
The team had 2 wins, 2 draws and 3 defeats - a great effort from all!
A special shout out to Jackson for his first competitive game and Millie for terrific goal keeping performance. Alex and Miller were very strong in defence, Charlie and Sholto covered lots of different positions and Seoras had great energy throughout in midfield!

To the parents who helped coach Elliott, Robin, Martin, Kari, Brett and Garry and to those who helped keep them all together between games 👏
