🔴⚽️ABERFAN U16s 6-0 RED LION ⚽️🔴
What a performance from the boys today! 👏👏
Before the game I asked the lads to start fast, move the ball quickly and look to get it forward, and fair play to them, that's exactly what they did from the first whistle.
We started brilliantly and got ourselves ahead with some fantastic wing play. James and Mason linked up brilliantly down the left, with James putting Mason through into the box. Mason drove into the penalty area and finished brilliantly to make it 1-0. 👏
The second came from Mckenzie, who worked tirelessly to close down the Red Lion defence, forced the mistake and received the ball before producing a cracking finish. 2-0 💪👏
Then came a fantastic strike from James, who picked his spot from around 20 yards and fired it into the bottom-left corner. What a finish! 👏 3-0.
The fourth was another brilliant bit of wing play, with Jaydon driving into the box before unleashing a strike that was simply too much for the keeper. 4-0! 👏⚽
And then we had the fifth… 🤔😂
Logan put a cracking ball in from around 25 yards and it somehow found its way straight into the bottom-left corner! Logan tells me it was a shot… I'm not 100% convinced about that one, Logan! 😂😂 But we'll give you it! 👏
5-0 at half time.
The boys had moved the ball really well, played with good intensity and put in an outstanding first-half performance. 👏👏
The second half was a little bit scrappier. Fair play to Red Lion, they continued to get stuck in and made it difficult for us, but credit to our boys because we continued to try and play football the right way and looked to get the ball forward.
Our sixth came from Mckenzie, who picked the ball up on the right, drove into the box and produced another brilliant finish to make it 6-0. 👏💪
A great win for the lads and, more importantly, another game where they showed they want to play football the right way.
Let's keep this momentum going boys. Plenty still to work on, but there were some outstanding performances today.

Opposition MOTM – Tavis
Tavis was superb from the back today. Cool, calm and composed in possession, always looking comfortable with the ball and making some excellent decisions. Outstanding performance, Tavis! 👏💪
Coaches MOTM – Mason
Mason's first-half display was outstanding. Always looking to support James, linking up brilliantly down the left and getting himself on the scoresheet too. Brilliant performance, Mason! 👏👏
Special Mention – James
What a first half from James! The Red Lion defence really struggled to deal with him. A fantastic goal and two assists to go with it. Brilliant performance! 👏

Worked incredibly hard closing down the Red Lion defence and was rewarded with two fantastic goals. Exactly the kind of work rate we want to see. 👏💪
