🚤 First Aberystwyth boat in the Worldwide Five Miles From Home Series 2026.

After negotiating the Rali Ceredigion lockdown, we finally got to the boat with our magic wristbands (thank you!).

It was a windy one… again! Typical 5MFH weather, so plenty of trips round and round the harbour, but we did manage a couple of good stints up river.

And, most importantly, we didn’t get rained on this year! 💪🤣

Another great day out and another one ticked off the Five Miles From Home challenge.

Ar ôl gorfod llywio drwy’r clo ffordd ar gyfer Rali Ceredigion, fe lwyddon ni gyrraedd y cwch gyda’n bandiau arddwrn hud (diolch!)

Roedd hi’n wyntog… eto! Tywydd nodweddiadol 5MFH, felly digon o deithiau rownd a rownd yr harbwr, ond fe lwyddon ni i gael cwpl o sesiynau da i fyny’r afon hefyd.

Ac, yn bwysicaf oll, wnaeth hi ddim bwrw glaw arnon ni eleni! 💪🤣

Diwrnod gwych arall ac un arall wedi’i dynnu oddi ar y rhestr yn her Pum Milltir o’r Cartref.

A very wet Castle to Castle race this year!

Really happy to come in 4th overall out of 21 boats, and 2nd in the mixed veterans category.

two very soggy crews out last night. nobody was complaining too much about the rain ☔️

dau griw gwlyb iawn allan neithiwr. Doedd neb yn cwyno gormod am y glaw. ☔️

Amongst all the excitement of yesterday, it was important to take a moment of silence to reflect on two losses to the Welsh rowing community.

Charlie Martin, a stalwart of Llangrannog Rowing Club and a much-loved figure within the Welsh Sea Rowing community, was well known and respected throughout the sport. Sadly, Charlie lost his battle with motor neurone disease.

Finlay Tarling was an incredible young athlete who was tragically killed in an accident while competing in Portugal. Whilst best known for his cycling, Finlay was formerly a member of the CRIW (Ceredigion Indoor Rowing) community. He was an exceptional indoor rower, still holding the Welsh Schools Record for 4 minutes in his year group. A remarkable achievement and testament to his incredible talent.

Our thoughts are with their friends, families and loved ones at this incredibly difficult time.
