Clwb Rhwyfo Aberystwyth Rowing Club Welcome to Aberystwyth Rowing Club. Croeso i Glwb Rhwyfo Aberystwyth. Welcome to the home page of Aberystwyth Rowing Club.

We are a sea rowing club based on the Mid-Wales coast in the seaside town of Aberystwyth. The majority of club rowing takes place in fixed seat rowing boats with 4 rowers and a cox per vessel. We also have some more modern-styled sliding seat boats, which we encourage members to progress to over time. The club compete in events of the Welsh Sea Rowing Association's Northern and Southern leagues all around the Welsh Coast ranging from Bull Bay in the North to Pembroke Dock in the South. We also compete in non leagues events a little further afield including the Thames Great River Race, Cork Ocean to City Race (Eire) and the biannual Celtic Challenge race from Arklow to Aberystwyth. The club are also heavily involved in the organisation of the latter, and hope to field several teams to the next edition in 2016.

A massive well done and congratulations to all our members who took part in the gruelling Aber Twin Peaks challenge today. We’re used to seeing these iconic hills from the water, but running them is something different! 💪👏

Wishing our two Great River Race crews all the very best with their trip to London. 21.6 miles, 28 bridges.
Mick, Jenny, Adrian, Bethan, Mark and Jude will be in Ceridwen, Mixed Veteran crew, start time 13:21.
Jon, Nathan, Julien, Roger, Hannah and Jennie will be in Branwen, Men’s crew, start time 13:25.
Louise is jumping in a ladies crew with Clevedon Coastal Rowing in Stann, start time 13:25).

What an honour to take this award again on behalf of the whole fleet.

🚤 First Aberystwyth boat in the Worldwide Five Miles From Home Series 2026.

After negotiating the Rali Ceredigion lockdown, we finally got to the boat with our magic wristbands (thank you!).

It was a windy one… again! Typical 5MFH weather, so plenty of trips round and round the harbour, but we did manage a couple of good stints up river.

And, most importantly, we didn’t get rained on this year! 💪🤣

Another great day out and another one ticked off the Five Miles From Home challenge.

Roedd hi’n wyntog… eto! Tywydd nodweddiadol 5MFH, felly digon o deithiau rownd a rownd yr harbwr, ond fe lwyddon ni i gael cwpl o sesiynau da i fyny’r afon hefyd.

Amongst all the excitement of yesterday, it was important to take a moment of silence to reflect on two losses to the Welsh rowing community.

Charlie Martin, a stalwart of Llangrannog Rowing Club and a much-loved figure within the Welsh Sea Rowing community, was well known and respected throughout the sport. Sadly, Charlie lost his battle with motor neurone disease.

Finlay Tarling was an incredible young athlete who was tragically killed in an accident while competing in Portugal. Whilst best known for his cycling, Finlay was formerly a member of the CRIW (Ceredigion Indoor Rowing) community. He was an exceptional indoor rower, still holding the Welsh Schools Record for 4 minutes in his year group. A remarkable achievement and testament to his incredible talent.

Our thoughts are with their friends, families and loved ones at this incredibly difficult time.
