Wishing all the best to two great men on their retirement from management. 👏⚽

Both have played a part in the journey at Enfield over the years, and local football is better for the time, effort and passion they’ve given to the game.

Enjoy the rest gents, well deserved 🍻

AN END OF AN ERA: COCKNEY & BARTS HANG UP THEIR BOOTS ⚽️

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the retirement of Stephen Cunningham and Steve Barton.

Two of the finest football men you could ever wish to meet, their impact was felt the second they stepped through our door.
They took a club that had been underperforming and facing off-field challenges and transformed us overnight. They brought back the "Stronger Together" motto, injecting a winning mentality and a warmth that revitalised our entire football club.

A Message from Chairman Terry Braithwaite

"On behalf of everyone at the club, I want to say a massive thank you to Stephen and Steve. When they arrived, we needed more than just coaches; we needed leaders who understood the soul of this club.
They gave us two fantastic seasons and reminded us what it feels like to win with a smile on our faces. Their loyalty, support, and the love they’ve shown to every player in that dressing room is a rare find in the modern game. They aren't just leaving as a management team; they are leaving as lifelong friends of this club. Enjoy your well-earned rest, gents, you've more than earned it."

 Cockney’s said...

"It’s come that time... time to walk away from football and retire. I’ve had the best time over the last few decades managing some wonderful clubs and being in the dressing room with hundreds of players.

A massive thanks to all the players that have run their socks off for me. Football will always be in my blood, but it’s time to spend it with my family. See you around, I’ll be doing a bit of groundhopping!"

From his time at Enfield FC Read, Ossy St Mary’s, Nelson Football Club Colne F.C. Whinney Hill FC Hurst Green Football Club, Turton FC and finally Rimington, Stephen has left an indelible mark on the game, walking away with an incredible haul of three league titles, four promotions, and seven cup wins, alongside the millions of friends he made along the way.

Cockney & Barts: Thank you for the memories, the passion, and the heart. You will always have a home here 🍊

As we approach the end of the season, with all league fixtures now complete for both teams, it leaves just one game remaining… the Presidents Cup Final for Enfield First Team. (See final post on our page for details) ⚽🏆

Firstly, we just want to say a massive thank you to all of our supporters, old and new. To everybody who comes down week in, week out, rain or shine, home or away, supporting the lads through every high and low, we truly wouldn’t be able to do this without you. Your support means everything to this club. 💙❤️

To our First Team gaffers, Dan & Damon, what you have built deserves huge credit. You’ve taken this team from strength to strength, brought together a fantastic committee, of whom everybody puts so much into the club, so credit where it’s due to those members too, giving up their free time to ensure everything runs smoothly behind the scenes. You’ve created a brilliant atmosphere around the club and worked tirelessly with the lads to get where they are today. Promotion from Division One into the Premier Division last season was a huge achievement in itself, but to now beat the league winners and reach the Presidents Cup Final is another massive statement. The time, effort, dedication and passion you all put into this club never goes unnoticed, and we are incredibly grateful for everything you do. 👏

To our Reserves manager, Spen, where do we start? You bring the banter, the good vibes, and somehow manage to keep everything running single handedly. Managing a team on your own takes a different level of commitment, and the effort you put in for the club deserves so much recognition. We’re all massively grateful for everything you do for the lads and the club as a whole. 🙌

And finally, to our players, old and new, this club would not be where it is without every single one of you. You show up every week, give everything for the badge, support each other like family, and even when injured, you’re still there on the sidelines supporting the boys. That togetherness is what makes this club special. The commitment, loyalty and passion from both squads has been unbelievable, and we couldn’t be prouder of what you’ve all achieved together. 💙❤️

Now roll on Presentation Evening so we can celebrate together properly! 🍻🏆

SEMI FINAL WINNERS! 💙⚽️🏆

On Wednesday, we faced league winners Trawden in the cup semi final.

Having lost both league meetings against them this season, we knew it was going to be tough. They’re one of the best teams the East Lancs League has seen over the last 20 years, so we knew we had to do our homework.

And the lads stuck to the game plan perfectly.

A superb strike from Charlie gave us the lead early on, before Trawden drew level with a good goal on 36 minutes. We went in at half time level at 1-1, but we were happy with how the game was playing out.

In the second half, we defended brilliantly as Trawden applied the pressure. We soaked it up, then hurt them on the counter.

Charlie grabbed his second, Coyney added a quick-fire double, and Lew finished the scoring around the 70 minute mark.

The back four and midfield three worked tirelessly to stop Trawden’s attacks, while the front three gave them plenty to worry about going the other way.

Final score:
Enfield 5 - 1 Trawden

Every single player stuck to the game plan and worked their socks off. Against a team like Trawden, we had to be perfect.
And on the night, we were.

Goals:
C. Ridge ⚽️⚽️
C. Coyne ⚽️⚽️
L. Wilkinson ⚽️

Man of the Match:
A really tough pick because every single player put a shift in, but Jack Cook gets the vote for setting the tempo early on and putting in an outstanding midfield performance.

We now look forward to the final on Saturday 23rd May at Padiham FC.
More details to follow.
