Airdrie Community Club

Today, All matches played By Airdrie Community Club commenced the game with a minutes applause in memory of a former player Aidan McCabe, he previously played with our 2009 team and was a wonderful young man. He will be missed by all who knew him.

Our thoughts and prayers got to his family and friends at this time.

Between difficulties in the system of actually operating a team or club, we also face shortage of pitches, a year on year rise in lets and pitch hire.

One example of our struggles aligned to this post. As a club we had 7 players sign pro youth with professional clubs since January. These clubs are obliged to pay us the princely sum of £100 per player as our huge part in their development. After over 40 emails to 5 different clubs, SYFA and SFA we finally received £200 this week from one club.

Grassroots is treated appallingly, and we are all volunteers.

Been asked to share this, there are BB companies across Airdrie & Coatbridge, good thing for the Boys to do.

After a fantastic year last year and a sadly cancelled summer programme due to ongoing electrical work in our Blairhill Dundyvan Church Halls, we are back and raring to go.

Friday 28th August is our first night back, but due to the above we will be, for the short term, in a different venue. This allows us to continue the great things we do for all the Boys.

Townhead Parish Church Halls, Crinan Crescent, Coatbridge ML5 2LG. our normal time still apply. we appreciate it it's further for some people to travel but we do hope that's not a barrier to bringing the Boys along.

We are also now part of Coatbridge Parish Church and our parades / Church services will take place there.

We look forward to meeting new members and our returning Boys next week.
Please share this amongst family and friends and with any community groups. Than you.
