🎾 Shropshire Summer Doubles League - Weekly Round Up 🎾

A busy week for Albrighton tennis this week with 3 matches!

Our Men’s 2nd team kicked off the action with a strong 3-1 victory at home against Broseley. A highly entertaining game with some cracking rallies - a real good watch for everyone who came down! Well done to Dave, Nick, Jake and Tim for their win.

Next up was a double header with our Men’s 1st team and our Ladies 2nd team both in action. Our Men’s 1st team suffered their first defeat of the season going down 0-4 away at Worfield - unlucky gents! Our Ladies second team battled and fought hard in a 3-1 defeat at home against Bridgnorth. Well done ladies!

We have our annual Wimbledon Whites tournament taking place on Sunday at 10am - everyone is welcome to come down and enjoy some fine tennis at the club! 🎾🍃

Well done to our Men’s 2nd team who beat Bridgnorth 3-1 yesterday evening!

A slightly delayed start time to combat the heat with all players battling through the conditions to put on some highly entertaining tennis.

Good performances this evening from Tim, Nick, Michael and Si C 👏🏼 well done gents!

The 2nd team are back in action next Wednesday at home against Broseley.

A great result for our Men’s first team this evening who secured a 4-0 win away at Boughey Gardens.

A hard fought victory in very tricky conditions with some top quality tennis on show. Well done to both teams for competing in this heat and maintaining the level throughout ☀️👏🏼

🎾 Wimbledon Frenzy Week is coming to Albrighton Tennis Club! 🎾

From Monday 29th June to Sunday 5th July, we’re giving everyone a chance to have a free tennis session with us!

It’s a great chance to get on court, try tennis, meet other players, and enjoy everything the club has to offer.

There will be coach-led sessions, social play, beginner-friendly opportunities, and plenty of Wimbledon fun throughout the week. All of this will be led by our very own Shropshire's coach of the year 2026 Tim Calver.

Whether you already play and want too play more, used to play, or are completely new to tennis, everyone is welcome.

Spaces are limited, so book on as quickly as possible!!⏳️

A great evening for our teams last night picking up two big wins!

Our Ladies 1st team made the short trip over to Claverley and picked up a 3-1 victory. Well done to Bridget, Beth, Lynne and Alison for their performances last night! Our ladies are currently top of the league with one game remaining against Boughey Gardens🔝🏆

Our Men’s 1st team were also in action against Market Drayton and picked up a 4-0 win. The 1st team have started off strong with 4 wins from 4 and travel to Boughey Gardens next week. Well done to Jon M, Rich, Si J and Jon H for their efforts last night!

Our Men’s 2nd team are back on court tomorrow evening against Bridgnorth at home - good luck gents and all support is welcome! 🙏🏼🎾

Just the one additional match to report on this week in which our Men’s 2nd team kicked off their league campaign with a home game against Ludlow.

A competitive match with some very enjoyable tennis for those that watched on the day! We lost the match 3-1 with a close champs tie break going in favour of a good Ludlow side. Well done to Si C, Dave, Nick and Michael for battling in this contest!

The Men’s 2nd team are back in action on Wednesday in a home game against Bridgnorth.

Good luck to the Men’s 1st team who are also playing at home against Market Drayton tomorrow evening too. All support is welcomed for both matches - let’s go ALTC 🎾

Well done to the Men’s 1st team who picked up a 3-1 win at home this evening against Oswestry.

A strong start for our 1st team who make it 3 wins from their opening 3 matches. Well done to Jon H, Si J, Rich and Jon M. They’re next in action against Market Drayton at home on Monday 15th June. 🗓️

Another busy week for our Men’s and Ladies sides competing in the Shropshire doubles league!

Our Ladies 1st team made the trip to Church Stretton and came away with a hard fought point in a 3-1 defeat. Well done to Nicki, Alison, Jan and Lynne for their performances. We’re still top of the league with two games to go in a tightly packed league - let’s finish strong ladies! 🏆

Our Ladies 2nd team were also in action facing Longden at home. Longden were only able to send one pair for this fixture unfortunately but everyone involved had a great game regardless. We came away with a 3-1 win. Well done to Beth, Julie, Hannah and Katie!

Our final match saw our Men’s 3rd team play their final game of the season at Worfield, picking up a 2-2 draw to finish off the season strongly. Our 3rd team have done brilliantly this year competing for the first time and have done the club proud. It’s lovely to see new members and young players getting a taste of competitive tennis - well done to all who represented and let’s build on it for next season!

Another busy week for our teams competing across Shropshire!

Our Ladies second team made the trip to Longden and came away with a hard fought 2-2 draw. This was very nearly a 3-1 win with Jenni and Rebecca losing out in a very close match 7-5, 4-6, 1-0 in the champs tie break, well battled both! Well done also to Beth and Julie who picked up wins and managed a 6-0, 6-0 in the process!

Our Men’s first team travelled to Oswestry for their second match of the season. They came away with another 4-0 win and have kicked off the season in good form! Well done to Jon M, Jon H, Rich and Si J - keep it going gents!
