✨ SYG Final Session ✨
We wrapped up our last SYG session of the year with some exciting prep for Camp SYG!
The group split into teams to plan the sessions they’ll be delivering at camp—adding creative themes, fun twists and loads of energy to make their activities even more engaging.
Each team then delivered part of their session to the rest of the group, giving everyone a chance to practise, learn from each other and share feedback. Such a brilliant way to build confidence and teamwork 💬🤝
To finish the night, we celebrated with the SYG Awards 🎉 Every young person received an award recognising their growth, effort and achievements throughout the year.
A fantastic end to an amazing year—bring on Camp SYG! 💛🔥

They helped marshal the Kids' Fun Run before heading to the water station, where they cheered on and supported runners taking part in the 10k. 💙💧
Thank you for your energy and enthusiasm – events like these couldn't happen without you! 🙌

“These scenarios sound a bit TOO familiar”
Two weeks ago at SYG, we had a pretty relaxed night with 3 of our members leading their own sessions.
First session was delivered by Keira in different fun games. These games would be useful when it comes to working at camps where there’s different age group ranges. A lot of these games were stuff most of us have never seen before 🏐
Second session was delivered by Meghan on scenarios. We were split off into 3 groups and given two different scenarios we may come across in the working world of coaching or within SYG. In our groups we had to come up with solutions to these problems, then we discussed them as a group to see if other people could add onto based on similar situations they may have personally experienced. 📝
Lastly to finish the night Rowyn lead a session on teamwork games. We were split into two teams and each game we participated in, the team that won would get a point. The team with the most points at the end won a cool keychain of an SYG hoodie! 🤝

“Stop rage baiting me” 😅
Recently at SYG we took part in two brilliant sessions with Scottish Sports Future working towards two SCQF Level 5 qualifications in planning effective physical activity programmes and conflict resolution. 🤝⚽️
In the first session we explored the mental, social and physical benefits of sport through activities like capture the flag, team strategy games and group discussions around programmes and outcomes. 🚩
The second session focused on conflict resolution, teamwork and fairness through interactive games and challenges. We discussed what conflict is, how it can escalate and the importance of communication and understanding within teams. 🍫⚽️
A big takeaway from both sessions was:
“Connection before content” and “connect before we correct.” 💭
Big thank you to SSF for delivering two great courses.

Last two sessions at SYG we had a brilliant SCQF Level 5 course in Working with Young People in Sport lead by Kam from Scottish Sports Futures🏅
We introduced ourselves by associating our name with an animal that begins with the same first letter 🐨
We then had some fun playing different games and group activities. We also had the challenge to adapt these games to suit the needs of children and individuals we might work with. 🤝
The second week of our session with Kam he let us take a bigger role of leading. ✨
We were given a challenge of creating our own games using 1 piece of equipment. 🏐
We all then discussed the pros and cons about being leaders. ✅
Kam was brilliant telling us how he got into sport and coaching and then opened up the conversation of discussing the many reasons why young people or anyone would get into sport 👏
