‼️ IMPORTANT NOTICE ‼️

Normal centre operations will be closed Wednesday 9th September between 9am - 2pm due to the centre being used for the upcoming Clacks Connect Funders Fayre

NHS's Up, Up & Away and the weekly Alcoholics Anonymous meeting will not go ahead on this date.

The Centre will open as normal at 2pm!

The summer is coming to an end, we're moving into autumn and the garden is beginning to wind down but we’re still thinking about next year and the volunteers who could help us grow even more!

Getting outdoors, growing things, connecting with nature and helping maintain a space like this can do wonders for your wellbeing.

From carrots and tomatoes to pumpkins, flowers and strawberries, we’ve grown a little bit of everything this year!

And it’s not just plants you’ll find here. Hawkhill is home to bees, butterflies, ladybirds, frogs, birds, rabbits, deer… and the occasional very helpful Gucci. 🐝🦋🐸🐈

We’ve even had a mutant sunflower with around 16 heads! 🌻 A rare little quirk of nature called fasciation can cause plants to produce multiple growing points or flower heads.

Damage to our polytunnel at Hawkhill Community Centre ❗️❗️

We’re sad to report that the polytunnel at Hawkhill Community Centre has been damaged, with large holes ripped into it after youths were seen jumping on it.

This project has taken a huge amount of time, effort and commitment from our volunteers, local residents and children who use the centre, and it’s really disheartening to see it damaged in this way.

We’d kindly ask parents and carers to please speak to their children about respecting community spaces – this polytunnel is there for everyone to enjoy and benefit from.

If anyone has any information about who was involved, please get in touch as this incident has been reported to the police.

We’d love to keep this project going strong for the whole community. ☹️
