Aikido is a Japanese martial art based on the principle of Ki, That is, the harmony or balance of energy. One seeks to overcome an attacker by first blending with the incoming attack then redirecting its energy. Taking the attackers balance both physically and mentally and then controlling the movement is important in Aikido, as is the development of the use of Ki rather than strength. Many of the movements in Aikido are based on movements with sword and other weapons.

NW Regional course of the BAB 17th May 2026. In Tyne And Wear.
That is being organised for the national governing body of Aikido. The BAB An opportunity to study the wide spectrum of Aikido wide spectrum .

The seminar will take place in South Shields and will feature the following instructors:

Jon Stokoe Shihan
These seminars provide an excellent opportunity to expand your knowledge of Aikido and to train with instructors and students from outside your usual dojo.
All students are welcome, regardless of grade or organisation.
