Thanks to all the players that attended John's funeral today. It was so nice for us to be able to form a guard of honour and also be the pall bearers. John would have been really made up with it all.
We all miss you John.
To all Altricham Judo club old members and new. Sad news, John our coach and a very close friend of mine, passed away in the early hours of Friday 22 Msrch in Manchester Royal Infirmary. The funeral is on the 15 April at 10-45am at Macclesfield Crem. The family have asked people to wear bright colours, blue in particular. 🙏
Last night was our first night at Stretford Sports centre. The venue which we were moved to because Altrincham Sports centre is being refurbished. Both our sessions went well even though some of our regular players were missing as they find it too far to travel to Stretford from Altrincham. But a lot of our regular players did attend along with four new members. I would like to thank them for supporting the club in this difficult time. Without players and their commitment to the club, means, there is no club. Our brand new mats went down a treat and looked good. Our massive thanks go out to the British Judo Association as well as Sport England for all their kind help. If you would like to find out more about Altrincham/Stretford Judo club email [email protected]

Altrincham Leisure centre is closing for a refurbishment on the 23 December. The centre will be closed for 12 - 18 months. This means Altrincham Judo club will be moving to Stretford Leisure centre temporally until the work has been completed. We have ordered some new mats which hopefully will be delivered to Stretford some time in January. Watch this space and as soon as we have a delivery date, I will let everyone when the club is open again.
Tomorrow is the last night to enrol for your grading, which is on Friday 11 March. You need your licence and entry fee with you tomorrow night. Then add your name and details to the grading sheet which you will find on the desk. Any major problems then contact Jean. On the grading night please arrive at your normal session time. There will be no normal Judo sessions that night, as its Gradings only. If your name isn't on the list and you haven't contacted Jean beforehand with a genuine excuse, then there will be no grading for you. No excuses. Make sure you know what you need to know for the grade you are being tested on. Any problems I will go through things with you tomorrow night. Good luck to everyone on the 11th March.
Happy New Year to all members of Altrincham Judo Club. I hope you are all well and have stayed safe over the festive period. The club will re open next Friday 14 January and Sunday 16 January. We are looking forward to seeing you all on the mat again at your normal session times.
