Match Result.
Firstly a massive thank you to hambledonfc for being quality opponents and opening our entry to the league with a hard fought battle and really tough game.
The game wasn’t the prettiest but the team battled for each other, ran the extra mile for each other and came away with the win.
Not the ideal start, after 20 mins our goalkeeper got injured and with no other keeper on the bench were forced to put our forward in goal. Brett stepped up for the team and kept us on the game with some quality talking, commanding the area and making some class saves to keep us in the game.
New street took the lead after 35 mins with Andreas finding the net to give us a 1-0 lead going into half time.
Another injury on 44 mins meant we lost our Centre mid. So starting the second half with 2 players down.
Hambledon came out strong in the second half and the game upped the anti. A couple of dubious penalty shouts both ends and chances missed by both sides. The game could have gone either way.
But Kate in the game Ash was put through and managed to stay onside to be one on one with the keeper, slotting it past him to give us a 2-0 lead with 10 mins to go.
The game ended 2-0. But the game could have gone either way. That second goal was important and fortunately it came to us.
