A non fitness day today but an enjoyable experience watching Trooping the Colour.
I grew up in Windsor as a young boy and my dad worked for the then Queen on her farm, we were often invited for holidays to the royal estates…. I even got held by royalty as a baby 👶!
So to see this today was great spectacle.
Obviously my wife Michelle has very strong links having served in the Army, and suffice to say it was her great idea so thank you for that 🙏
She also knew faces as she does wherever we go 😂
Topped off by a fly over of the Red arrows ✈️ amongst other beasts!

Lindsay looking great fine tuning her physique, Francesca doing some hard moves and feeling and looking good, Jo weight loss bearing a staggering 50kg, Aileen keeping fit as ever, Clare defying science with what she can now achieve, looking great, Rachel slimmer than ever returning from surgery, Steph fitter, stronger and most importantly injury free!

Once upon a time my client Jamie was a real runner! 🏃
He did the London Marathon in 2:32 …..truly staggering time.
Today we work on overall fitness, focusing primarily on upper body moves.
Although the competing trainers are put away for good now, he’s still a recreational runner….. you never lose it!
Now he’s a weekly regular in my gym….
Appreciation post for a real competitor back in the day and still a fit thing these days 💪
Think ‘Atlas stones for Strong man’? …. now put my re hab spin on it…. Use 2 x 10kg powerbags and 2 x 20kg powerbags… use Plyo boxes on ascending heights…. and bingo! You have yourself a lifestyle functional move, incorporating those important everyday body movements!

Injuries are horrible and make you feel like all progress and gains are lost!
In reality however, it isn’t the case…. But I know having been there it certainly feels like it is.
My wife Michelle is feeling her calf recently; it’s strained, grade 2…. But keeps going even if she try’s to jog:.. very frustrating for her.
I came home from work and set about trying to cheer her up; so she can still workout and have a bit of progression load in there too…
These exercises didn’t provide any pain for her so it’s a case of progressive overload from here and isometric work also…. Whilst managing that running expectation for another week yet until we try gently again!
(I.e please don’t run again yet!)

Robs come along way, his Squats have kept improving week on week.
Posture wise he looks steady as you can see. and it isn’t forced anymore.
We’ve dabbled with some variations along the way as I feel doing this makes the actual compound movement stronger….and taking a step back makes bigger strides in the long term.

Kev this week taking things up a notch, performing a single leg squat with a dumbbell above head…..
It’s a more advanced way of doing a single leg squat….
This is great for lower body stability, builds greater core strength and strengthening the shoulder.
2/3 things we’ve been tasked to improve…. Shoulder strengthening & Lower body mobility.
As always work in progress but it’s a good start.

Box jumps into 5 push ups = 1min 30.
Ski erg 5x200m (45 sec recovery)
2 x 2 20 metre 20kg bag lunges
