This time next week the 77 team will be packed and ready for American SpeedFest at Brands Hatch with PickupTruckRacing.com

This is just a small glimpse of Chris hard at work. Now imagine maintaining that level of concentration for an entire race, in full race gear, under the summer heat!

Thruxton. Chris’ annual reminder that fear is apparently still free. πŸ˜…

This place has always been his bogey circuit after the massive off he had the first time he came here. No matter how many years pass, there’s still a little voice in the back of his head at near 120mph through Church reminding him about it…

Qualifying was an absolute disaster for the team. The outside rear wheel bearing let go and sprayed oil all over the rear tyre, which made the truck unbelievably loose everywhere. Zero confidence. Zero grip. The #77 truck qualified P15… which was also dead last. Brilliant start. πŸ‘

Race 1 was basically Chris trying to remember how to drive the thing again. He was tentative, overthinking it, and just couldn’t get into a rhythm. Then with about 3 laps to go something suddenly clicked in his head and he finally started attacking the circuit properly. The team brought it home P13.

Race 2 felt very similar. Hard work from start to finish, but there was a really good battle with the #52 truck and the #77 truck managed to finish P12.

Race 3… honestly the team still isn’t convinced we made the correct tyre choice. The weather was horrific, visibility was dreadful, and in a moment of absolute genius we sent the truck out on wets on the inside and slicks on the outside.

Which meant:
Left turns = fantastic.
Right turns = meeting Jesus. πŸ˜‚

But Chris kept it pointing vaguely forwards, the team stayed persistent, and somehow dragged it home P10.

Not the outright pace the team wanted this weekend, but considering where we started mentally and mechanically, we’ll take the progress. Sometimes racing isn’t about trophies - it’s about getting back on top of the demons and chipping away at them one lap at a time.

Massive thanks to everyone who helps keep the #77 truck going. Onwards to the next one. 🏁

Good morning it’s race day! 🌀️🏁

After the downpour last night, things are looking a little brighter this morning.

Race 1 was unfortunately hindered after an outside rear wheel bearing decided its time was up! This had an impact on our finishing position.

However, a quick change was completed by the team in speedy time, leaving 77 ready for our two races coming up today:

Good morning from a bright and sunny Thruxton.

Our last outing here was 2018!
So, to refresh the driver's memory we took him out on a track walk last night.

We shall see how much has sunk in during qualifying today at 10:55
