We are a local independent bike shop run by real people who care about bikes and the people who ride them.

WHO WE ARE

Whether the best part of your week is speeding down a road in the countryside, commuting to work in all weathers or you love going out with the family on the MTBs, your favourite bike shop is your local cycle haven. The rows of gleaming bikes and the dinging of the door remind you of your first bike. All of the quality gear in the shop can keep you occupied for hours and Steve and Pau

A few snaps loosely related to the now obviously changing weather.

We have perhaps created a bit of an expectation as a result of taking very little time away through the cycling season. Most of our customers understand (and encourage) the need to take some time off, but in this very short week, we've encountered some more difficult (read:rude) exchanges because we were closed for two(!) additional days.

As we move into the darker months, we'll be packing our layers and making sure our own bikes are winter ready, and we will also be taking more time to enjoy as much daylight as we can, just like the cheeky gull.

While we appreciate you can't plan for emergencies, we absolutely encourage bookings for servicing and repairs at any and all times of the year, and short of leafletting every door in Angus, we're at a bit of a loss as to how we can keep folks any more informed.

Our opening hours are listed on the website, across our socials, in our email signature, on the door and at the end of almost every message or call about your bike/booking. Booking is *always* encouraged. We manage bookings according to our personal schedule and we inform changes via all of the same channels. And we will generally always squeeze smaller emergency repairs in - like a minor injuries unit for bikes!

If you turned up to the final boss of closure comms - the handwritten 'closed until Wednesday' - and simply laughed at your luck and returned - we appreciate you!

Anyways, this is a long way round a short cut to remind everyone to get out and enjoy the daylight - it's nature's very best mood enhancer.

Also: don't be a d*!

What a day!ย

The overarching theme for the day was without a doubt 'supporting one another'. Neil puts on a fantastic event encouraging riders of all kinds without need for super speed or competition. Kelly's favourite kind!ย

From the very (early) start to the very (late) finish, the best thing about yesterday's Ride the North, was undoubtedly seeing so many of our customers out on the route.ย

The ones who cycled from Arbroath, round the route and home again ๐Ÿคฏ The ones who, like us, were taking part in their first RtN, the old hands, and even the ones who lied to us telling us that it was all good after the climb out of Edzell up through Lethnot. It. Was. Not.ย

Extra special mentions: first to JP - who rode the full route solo - and his support crew who saved the day when someone (definitely Kelly) forgot to pack the hydration tabs ๐Ÿ™ˆ

And Andrew, whose never ending positivity was welcome at every meet. Paired with Thom's "you haven't come this far to only come this far", one of us (also definitely Kelly) wouldn't have made it without it! It's obviously genetic.

Big shout out to BBD Bikes, The Bicycle Garage and Ein Outdoors (and even The Big Fella ๐Ÿ˜‚) on the tools.ย  Your local bike shops and techs are, without a doubt, the very best of the bike industry.

And every one of the local businesses and community groups who turned out to support the riders with sustainence.ย

^ These especially. By choosing to really think local, this event goes far beyond the cycling community. But if just one of those Scouts is inspired by the seas of cyclists whose cards they stamped.....

And on that note: It's really difficult to talk about the lifesaving work they do without focus on tragedy. But it's suffice to say, the kind of support we saw and felt all day is a very big part of the reason we chose Reach Across as the recipients of any funds raised. Real people supporting real people, is exactly what they do. And they do it funded entirely by local people and their efforts.ย

For your donations so far - THANK-YOU!ย

Steve-O is fair enjoying 'taking it easy' in his retirement.

Like many this morning, he popped in for some final Ride the North prep purchases.

We trust everyone enduring, sorry, taking part in this fantastic challenge, has had the foresight to have their bike serviced in advance. And there are some cracking mechanics working on emergency repairs across the route and local organisations and businesses to keep everyone sustained, but if your emergency pack needs refreshing, we're here until 5pm today and tomorrow!

๐Ÿง€ We've been ridiculously busy with work and training and life, but we enjoyed a lovely moment of big cheesy grins after our respective rides on Sunday.

๐Ÿšด๐Ÿผ Jason stepped in to cover Aaron's Arbroath Coffee outside this week, and Kelly, Suze's Stronger State Sunday Social in their absence.

โ˜€๏ธ It's an honour to be trusted to fill in for the mega legends they both are and to get to know folks and their bikes outside of the shop, like, we get to do that for fun!

๐Ÿฎ Big shout out to the The Corn Kist Coffee House at Milton Haugh for the best scone/jam combo in Angus.

Arbroath Coffee Outside: Sunday 6th September, Guthrie Port Benches 10am. Everyone welcome.

Stronger State Sunday Socials:Ongoing, 10am, Keptie Pond. Women only.
